This afternoon, around 4pm, I was driving south on the M1 at Rochedale (where they have the 5 lanes all open now). I had just merged into the very middle lane, after coming off the Gateway Mwy from Eight Mile Plains.
Knowing what the traffic is like at this time of the day, I was about to change to the second from the right lane to avoid the congestion further down. Before I had a chance to, the cars in front of me (in my lane) were all coming to an abrupt stop, with even a van in front trying to swerve to miss hitting the vehicle in front of them.
Traffic was previously flowing with no problem, so I was going 100km/hr as is the speed limit. I was lucky to have a significant gap in front of me, but even still, I came very close to hitting the car in front of me. I thank my car for having such good brakes!
Problem was, I couldn't swerve away even if I wanted to, but there was a Walkabout Services truck behind me. I knew what it was cause I had just passed the 2 Walkabout Services trucks as we were coming off the Gateway. I'd taken notice of them cause they were shiny like new. I even remember the number plate...WST19 - I think that was the trailer and then the main truck was WST25 (I think). There was another smaller truck/ute as well, but my experience was with the bigger truck.
So I've just managed to stop from running up the back of someone after the abrupt stop, thanking my brakes for doing their job, when I check my rearview mirror to hope that the vehicle behind me was stopping as well. Imagine my horror to see the very same big WST truck bearing down on me!
The reason I'm posting this? Without the swift actions of your driver this afternoon, I very likely would have died (I have a Mazda 3) or at least been severely injured, had your driver hit me.
Thankfully he didn't have a load on, which I'm positive is what contributed to the driver being able to safely swerve out of the lane to avoid hitting me, and continue on the journey south.
It took a while for me to comprehend how close I came to actually being involved in a serious accident, but I thought it was really important to share to let you know the calibre of your drivers, but most of all, to THANK your driver in the truck this afternoon.

With the unprecedented rainfall we had last week we have had numerous people ask “ what’s wrong with Beenleigh Redland bay road?” Well it’s still in flood at the moment.
So to access mt cotton road at the moment from the m1 the detour is via
California creek road and onto carbrook road or wuduru road.
Both roads are open to all traffic
