"The Solitude Project"
A colleague attended a service on Monday where she met a Ratana Minister in Brisbane. He told her that there has been a lot of tangi (funerals) over the past two weeks of which five of those were Maori men who had sadly taken their lives. She also received a call from her husband earlier that morning informing her of a young person she knew who had also taken his life. "6

Holding back tears my wairua (spirit) felt deeply saddened by what she had just shared. I didn’t know any of the whanau (families) affected personally...
But The next time it could be someone you know or love...
I wanted to do something, so they don’t feel alone. "Connection is the Key"
To achieve the above II have decided to do a 10km daily run for a year. This is for me to push beyond my boundaries mentally and physically documenting the process throughout the project to:
1. Achieve
There are 3 ways that people can get involved:
#1 Participate - Each Sunday I will be doing a community-run where anyone can participate (you can bike, scooter, walk and it doesn't need to be 10km) it's more about connecting as a community.
#2 Donate - We have set up a Go Fund Me page towards the cause however we haven't yet chosen a charity as we would like to give all donators the opportunity to select a charity closer to the end date 31.10.21.
#3 Hope Wall - Was created for anyone around the world to contribute towards by posting a message of love, hope, and support to help lift someone else up that may be suffering in silence. There is no cost involved in this, only a short message from the heart. The Hope Wall was inspired by the many families and friends who have lost a loved one and never got to share these messages. This gives them an opportunity to do that. We would love for you to get involved and potentially impact someone's life for the better.
