How much do you know about cholesterol? 🤔

Well, literally speaking, cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that is important for metabolism and is used by your body to make hormones.

Too much 'bad cholesterol', however, can lead to serious health issues, and increase your chance of having a heart attack or stroke. Known as the silent killer, high cholesterol generally doesn't have obvious symptoms, which is why it's extremely important that you visit your doctor regularly for check ups even if you're feeling well and healthy 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

When you’re feeling tired, a good night’s sleep is usually enough to help you feel refreshed.

Fatigue is an ongoing feeling of mental or physical weariness that does not go away with rest.

If you’re waking up feeling low on energy, unmotivated and tired you could be experiencing fatigue.

Lifestyle factors related to nutrition, sleep habits and physical activity levels can play a role, but stress and underlying physical or mental health conditions may also cause fatigue.

Talk to your GP about what may be contributing to how you're feeling.

Seasonal hay fever is common in spring, which can cause some similar symptoms as COVID-19.

If you experience any COVID-19 symptoms (no matter how mild) please seek testing:

While they may share some symptoms, there are key differences between the two:

🌸 Hay fever does not usually cause shortness of breath unless a person has a respiratory condition, such as asthma, which can be triggered by exposure to pollen.
👁️ Hay fever causes watery and itchy eyes, as well as sneezing, which are not typical symptoms of COVID-19.
🕒 Hay fever symptoms can change depending on the time of day due to pollen levels.
🤒 COVID-19 can cause fever or chills and a sore throat which are not a common symptom of hay fever.

Symptoms of hay fever and COVID-19 can vary from person to person and range from mild to severe.

If you know you routinely experience hay fever, talk to your GP about starting preventive medication early in the season before symptoms occur. This will help to prevent or decrease your symptoms.

Today kicks off the start of Spring when many people experience an increase in asthma and hay fever symptoms. It’s also the perfect time to speak to your doctor about seasonal preventative treatments.

Managing your asthma and hay fever symptoms is more important than ever. If your symptoms are new, different than your usual symptoms, have restarted after a period of absence or if you’re unsure, get tested for COVID-19.

If you can, get vaccinated against COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines are free, safe and voluntary. Choosing to get vaccinated helps protect ourselves, our families and our community.
