There's nothing quite like getting face-to-face with our host employer partners and the trainees we support! 🧡

Our QLD team and Melbourne-based National Manager recently visited Ipswich City Council , where Darren Jury (National Manager - Group Training First Nations and Programs), Grace Wingfield-Smith and Don Walker (Field Officers - Group Training & First Nations QLD/NT) had the pleasure of meeting eight trainees for the very first time - along with the wonderful Heather, Program Manager at Ipswich City Council.

At Maxima, we believe in the power of connecting local community to real careers. Apprenticeships and traineeships aren't just qualifications - they are genuine, meaningful pathways that open doors, build confidence, and create lasting opportunities for people right where they live. Seeing that come to life in Ipswich was a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much.

These visits mean everything. Connecting in person, hearing how our trainees are going, and strengthening relationships with our host employer partners is at the heart of what we do.

Yesterday, Jeff and Sarah had the privilege of spending the day at Playford International College in South Australia - and what a day it was!

We kicked things off with Discovery Sessions in Year 7 and 8 classrooms, talking about Maxima, sharing our own career journeys, and planting a few seeds about what's possible after school.

Then it was into the gym for the Career Expo with Years 10, 11 and 12 - and the energy in the room was fantastic. The most popular enquiries of the day? Commercial cookery apprenticeships and dental traineeships!

It's always inspiring to see young people starting to think seriously about their futures. We love being part of those conversations early.

We recently had the honour of presenting Department for Health and Wellbeing with a very special gift - a hand painted silk created by our Maxima First Nations trainees at one of our yarning circles, with the workshop facilitated by Kumarninthi Cultural Education.

The presentation was a moment to celebrate DHW's Workforce Operations Team, winners of our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion Award at the Maxima 2025 Graduation & Awards event. The silk was a heartfelt thank you for the outstanding support they continue to provide our trainees.

Pictured are Lachlan, a Maxima First Nations trainee placed with DHW, alongside Sarah Hisee and Katrina Channon, Team Leader HR Operations, Workforce Services at SA Health and Lachlan's workplace supervisor. Katrina and the team exemplify what it means to be a truly inclusive employer - providing mentorship, skills coaching, and a genuine sense of belonging.

The artwork depicts Kaurna Yerta (Kaurna Country) - from the Adelaide Hills to the ocean - with the Karra Wirra Parri (River Torrens) at its heart, and animal tracks symbolising the journey of learning and growth.

A beautiful piece, created with pride - and gifted with gratitude.

Reconciliation isn't a moment - it's a practice. And it's something we are proud to live every day, alongside employer partners like Department for Health and Wellbeing who share that commitment.

Saturday night had our hearts full. ✨

~ Maxima Finalists at the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards ~

What an honour to be in a room full of South Australia’s most inspiring young people. The energy, the talent, the stories - a powerful reminder of what our next generation is capable of. We left genuinely moved.

On Saturday evening, two of our Maxima apprentices stood among the finalists for the South Australian Skills Commission Outstanding Apprentice Award at the 7NEWS Adelaide Young Achiever Awards gala - sponsored by Fresh 92.7 and held at the Hilton Adelaide - and we couldn’t be prouder of both of them.

🌟 Cooper Chomel, a fourth-year apprentice chef at The Strathmore Hotel, began his journey unemployed, without a car, and with an incomplete SACE. By his third year he’d won Maxima’s Apprentice of the Year; by his fourth, he was a state finalist. A silver medal at a Nestlé culinary competition and an extraordinary personal resilience make him one of the most impressive young people we’ve had the privilege of supporting.

🌟 Jemma Glatz, a Painting and Decorating apprentice hosted by the City of Adelaide, is only in her second year - and already set to represent Australia at the 2026 WorldSkills International Championships in Shanghai. In a trade where women make up fewer than 4% of the qualified workforce nationally, Jemma is a trailblazer in every sense. (Pictured with her TAFE SA trainer, Steve.)

The award went to another deserving finalist - but Cooper and Jemma are winners by every measure that matters.

We also want to acknowledge Marcus Tree from City of Onkaparinga Council, who reached the semi-finals. A brilliant effort.

A sincere thank you to the South Australian Skills Commission and Commissioner Cameron Baker for their continued investment in recognising apprentice excellence across the state - and to host employers Strathmore Hotel and the City of Adelaide for being the partners behind two exceptional apprentices.

Thank you also to the Hon. Katrine Hildyard MP for her inspiring words on the night.

And to everyone who showed up on the night to cheer them on - including Tim Riemann (GM, Strathmore Hotel), Steve (TAFE SA), and the Maxima team - Stacy Thomas (Group Training GM), Jasmine Ottaway (Group Trainjng SA State Manager), Charlie Corbo (Hospitality Field Officer), and Michelle Kelly (Marketing & Relationships Manager), and all the friends, family & supporters of the stars Cooper and Jemma.

These are the moments that remind us why this work matters. 🧡

Reconciliation isn’t a moment. It’s a commitment.

It’s showing up - in yarning circles, in community gatherings, in the partnerships we build and the listening we do every single day.

This year’s theme is All In. And that’s exactly what genuine reconciliation asks of us - full commitment, not just in the big gestures, but in the everyday actions that build real, lasting relationships.

The reel you’re about to watch is a glimpse of that - a year of moments that remind us why this work matters, and who it’s for.

At Maxima, we’re all in. For First Nations communities. For meaningful connection. For careers that open doors and create real opportunity. For a future built together.
