There is a certain joy in getting something but there is a greater joy in giving- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Peter and Ben developed a mental illness in 1991 at a time when there was a lot of talk about the need for reforms in the mental health sector with the National Inquiry into Human Rights of People with Mental Illness. Not a lot changed for people with severe mental illness and Peter and Ben lead very isolated lives, supported mainly by family.
However, the recent introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme has brought about considerable change in their lives. It took hard work by their family to find an agency, which understood psychosocial disabilities, but now they, at last, have hope that their future looks brighter.
It has fared them extremely well during the current restrictions of the Pandemic, with supports being unwavering during this time.
