Join us for the last I oA Sliver Lecture „Matters of Choice“ by Jeanette Kuo (Karamuk Kuo Architects) of this semester.

Jeannette Kuo is co-founding partner of Zurich-based KARAMUK KUO and Professor of Architecture and Construction at TU Munich. Her research and work focus on integrated design, looking at structures, climate, and culture in the holistic design of buildings. From multi-unit housing to cultural infrastructures like the Augusta Raurica Archaeological Center, the work of the office spans across scales and typologies, operating at the intersection of spatial concepts and constructive technologies to approach architecture from its most fundamental sources. Built works include the International Sports Sciences Institute in Lausanne, the Weiden Secondary School, and House on a Slope. Publications include the two-volume research on workspace typologies: A‑Typical Plan (2013) and Space of Production (2015), as well as the recent El Croquis 196 monograph on Karamuk Kuo. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley, a Master in Architecture degree from Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a Master of Advanced Studies from ETH Zurich. Prior to the Professorship at TUM, she has taught at Harvard GSD, EPF Lausanne, MIT, and UC Berkeley.

Join us for the next I oA Sliver Lecture by Rodia Valladares next week, Thursday, April 20 7:00 pm @ Die Angewandte Hörsaal 1

Rodia Valladares is a Design Principal in the Paris office of Studio Gang. Since joining the Studio in 2010, Rodia has worked on civic, cultural, educational, and residential projects, including the WMS Boathouse at Clark Park and Eleanor Boathouse at Park 571, Rescue Company 2 for the FDNY, Writers Theatre, and the NYC Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice Neighborhood Activation Study. He is now working on several of the Studio’s upcoming projects in Paris, including the University of Chicago Center in Paris which is currently under construction. He graduated from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM) and earned his Master of Architecture with Distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

INFERSTUDIO is a digital design studio offering services in worldbuilding, editing, videography, VFX, and data visualization, working with artists, architects, researchers, NGOs, film-makers, musicians and technologists to design visual worlds that tell their stories.
Inferstudio also produces independent projects - artworks, films and essays that focus on extended reality, personhood and identity, and Earth’s fragile landscapes.
Bethany Edgoose, Co-founder and Director, is an editor, writer, and researcher. With a background in anthropology, her work investigates the impact of digital technologies on new forms of personhood and identity. Before Inferstudio, she worked as a cyber-security analyst and a nuclear security researcher. She graduated with distinction from the M.Sc in Anthropology and Development at the London School of Economics.
Nathan Su, Co-founder and Director, is a designer, technologist, and researcher. With a background in architecture, he works through virtual worlds to both speculate on possible futures and reveal contemporary realities. He has recently worked as an advanced researcher for Forensic Architecture, and has taught in architecture schools internationally, including at UCLA, the Architectural Association (AA), and Strelka Institute. He studied architecture at the University of Melbourne and at the AA, where he received Diploma Honours.

Luis Callejas is an architect, founder of LCLA office and professor at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
Callejas’ projects and research bridge architecture and landscape architecture. Previous appointments include Harvard Graduate School of Design (2012-2016) the Louis Kahn visiting chair at Yale (2020) and Patrick Geddes fellow at the University of Edinburgh (2019).
In 2013 Callejas won the Architecture league of New York award for best young architects. The office has been nominated to the Mies van der Rohe award for European Architecture and the Mies Crown Hall award for architecture in the Americas. In 2016 Luis Callejas was on the three finalists in the Rolex mentor and protege program curated by David Chipperfield.
Completed works include the open air competition swimming facilities in Medellin for the IX South American games, and the renovation of the main stadium in Bogota, Colombia.
LCLA office’s works have been exhibited in most major biennales over the past years, including the Venice biennale, the Lisbon triennial, the Oslo triennial and the Seoul triennial among others.
