The legendary concierge at the Imperial Hotel in Vienna is said to be the inspiration behind Ralph Fiennes’ character, M. Gustave, in The Grand Budapest Hotel. Wes Anderson spent time here researching for the film and when stepping into this lobby, it’s easy to see why.

Once a royal palace now is one of the most iconic hotels in Vienna. The hotel is famous for its luxury interior with marble staircases, crystal chandeliers, and old-world grandeur right on the Ringstraße. Over the years it has hosted an extraordinary mix of guests — from Queen Elizabeth II, John F. Kennedy, and Emperor Akihito to Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Frank Sinatra, Lady Gaga, and Mick Jagger ( and even some controversial WWII guests like AH and BM). Staying there felt like going back in time ✨
