Lisa D. Archigian - Visual Artist
Artist, Librarian, Educator, this, that and the other thing
Proud to be part of this incredible collaboration. To quote our colleague "See you at the Square!"
Get • Yes, you read that right… Times Square Arts [] & Powerhouse Arts [] are ‘Making Love’ this holiday season, right in the middle of Times Square, with a public artwork that celebrates our LOVE for all the artisans, fabricators and MAKERS that work behind-the-scenes to bring New York City’s creative endeavors to life!
A collaborative work by Lisa D. Archigian [], Kelsey Breen [], Nellie Davis [], Cythali Sapuis [], and Jacqueline Veliz [] – all artists and makers that work at Powerhouse Arts, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit and fabrication hub – ‘Making Love’ is a public art installation that celebrates love not only as romance and friendship, but as labor, craft, and collective creation.
Taking the form of a larger-than-life carousel book, this three-dimensional pop-up invites visitors to step inside and explore four distinct scenes that represent a crossroads of experiences and cityscapes where one might encounter love - at a botanical garden, canal, or even the corner bodega.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, ‘Making Love’ will be on view and open to the public 24/7 February 12-19, 2026 and will serve as the backdrop to the 2026 Love in Times Square festivities which include a day full of surprise marriage proposals, weddings, and vow renewals beneath the flashing lights of iconic billboards.

When I wasn't making found object assemblages, during senior year of high school, I was sitting on my grandmother's living room floor, drawing from observation an elaborate drapery study for an art school application. Channeling Nicolaides and imagining an ant crawling up and down the layers of fabric to understand volume, and cutting my eraser on the diagonal to pull out highlights like Betty Edwards said in Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. I still do all of those things and use that exact same drawing board. Eternal Shout-outs to ❤️

Celebrating. and . What a treat to be included in the evening from afar.
