Our three boys know when Zahir is bringing them a treat.

They get the hay and nutritious food they need every day, but Afghan naan has a special place in their hearts. Zahir picks up fresh bread from the bakery and brings it to them as a snack, and all three are eager for their turn.

They also love spending time together in their green, open space, wandering among the trees, enjoying the sunshine, and keeping a close eye on anyone who might be carrying naan. It’s a lovely place for our boys to spend their days.

Tango came to us many months ago with string embedded deeply in his neck twice over. It has taken that long to nurse this beautiful boy back to help. He is not the first and certainly won't be the last case like this that we take and commit to. It's never easy, but he deserves it.

Are you furniture? Or are you love? For our many beloved felines, that's not the most important question. What matters so much to their safety is the screens on their windows and the k***s on the doors.

Morning zoomies are thirsty work! Pablo, Bena, and Marley have called a brief timeout from playtime to gather around for a refreshing drink.

Clean, fresh drinking water is always on the menu for every animal in our care. A few good gulps, a little splash, and this trio will be ready for round two!

Daniz, Kairo, and Tiana found the perfect way to spend a sunny day: outdoor playtime, a cozy spot to relax, and plenty of attention from their big friend Paul.

We made the difficult decision to gently let Rachel go today. She came to us years ago and gave birth to 7 beautiful orange kittens the first night. The boys were all adopted in the United States but her daughter Gladys stayed in Kabul with her to keep her company because she remained mostly feral. Gladys died last year after a freak injuries and Rachel simply never recovered. She had been unhappy for so long and we were not able to make her days easier anymore. These decisions are heartbreaking but done out of love and done with kindness and compassion and gentleness.
