The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is
an internationally recognized standardized test that measures the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. It is primarily used by universities, colleges, and other institutions as part of their admissions process for non-native English speakers who wish to study in English-speaking countries.

The TOEFL exam assesses the test taker's ability to understand and use English at the university level. It measures four key language skills:

1. Reading: The test taker must read and understand passages from academic texts and answer questions based on the information provided.

2. Listening: The test taker listens to lectures, conversations, and discussions and answers questions based on the information heard.

TOEFL scores are accepted by more than 11,000 institutions in over 150 countries. The exam is offered in both an internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) and a paper-based test (TOEFL PBT) format. The TOEFL iBT is more commonly administered globally, while the TOEFL PBT is offered in select areas where the internet-based test is not available.
