Most pilots we talk with have no idea what the full hiring process actually entails at UAE airlines.
No shame in that, it’s not exactly straightforward.
So we broke it down. 8 stages, from application to offer. Save this so you know exactly what’s coming 👇
01 → Online Application
02 → Document & CV Review
03 → Video / English Interview
04 → Aptitude & Cognitive Tests
05 → HR & Technical Interview
06 → Group Exercise
07 → Simulator Assessment
08 → Medical & Final Offer
Every airline does it a bit differently, but this is the general path.
Questions about any of these stages? Drop them below 👇

These five questions come up on almost every discovery call I take.
And I get it — when you’re planning a move to the UAE, there’s a lot of noise out there and not enough clear answers.
So here they are. No fluff, no gatekeeping — just the answers you actually need.
Save this for later and share it with a pilot friend who’s thinking about making the move ✈️
Still have questions? That’s exactly what the free 15-minute discovery call is for. Link in bio to book yours.
What’s the one question YOU would add to this list? Drop it below 👇

Real pilots. Real prep. Real sim time. 🖥️✈️
This is our Flight Training Device — and honestly, it’s one of our favourite things about what we do here at Sharp Aviation.
There’s something really special about watching a pilot go from nervous and unsure… to calm, composed, and ready.
That shift happens here, in sessions like these.
If you’ve got a sim assessment coming up and that little voice in your head is saying “I need more time on this” — listen to it. 😅
This is exactly what we’re here for.
👇 Drop a comment or send us a DM — we’d love to help you prepare.

Happy World Pilots’ Day ✈️
To every pilot who has ever sat in that seat — The early briefs nobody sees. The simulator runs at 3am. The standards you hold yourself to, long after the check is done.
This profession asks everything of you. And every single day, you show up and deliver.
Today, the skies belong to you. 🛫

Most pilots walk into a GCC sim assessment thinking it’s about flying. ✈️
It’s not.
The examiner isn’t grading your ILS. They’re watching how you think, communicate, and hold it together when things go wrong.
Swipe through to see exactly what happens — from the brief to the debrief. Save this before your next application. 👇

He walked into the first session with a CPL, a notebook, and the kind of quiet nerves you can spot from across the room.
No airline experience. No multi-crew time. One goal: a major UAE carrier.
The first sim told us everything. His hands were fine — smooth on the controls, decent scan. But the moment things got busy, the radio went quiet. Decisions happening inside his head instead of between the two seats. Classic single-pilot instinct. Exactly what gets people sent home from a Gulf assessment.
So that’s where we started. Not with more flying. With how he briefed, how he communicated, how he handled a mistake when it happened.
Eight weeks. Sim sessions. CRM drills. Interview prep built around what these airlines actually ask.
He listened. Came back sharper every time. Stopped flying the aircraft alone and started flying it as a crew.
Offer on the first attempt. ✈️
If you’re sitting on a CPL staring at the gap between your licence and the right-hand seat of a widebody — the gap usually isn’t more hours. It’s learning to fly the way airlines want you to fly. As a crew. Out loud. Under pressure.

A big step for Sharp Aviation Consultancy — we’re now partnered with a simulator facility in Portugal 🇵🇹
When we started this consultancy, the goal was simple: give pilots the preparation they actually need to land their first airline job in the Gulf. Not generic advice, but real, specific guidance.
Adding simulator access in Europe is the natural next step. Because knowing what to do and being able to practise it are two very different things.
FTD sessions now available — 2 or 4 hours, fully briefed and debriefed, built around Gulf airline standards.

Zero experience. Airline cockpit. That’s the MPL pathway. 🛫
Two programs open in the Middle East right now:
▫️flydubai → MPL Ab Initio (B737)
▫️Air Arabia → MPL Cadet Pilot (A320)
No flight hours needed. Just the right profile and solid preparation.
The MPL is still one of the most underrated routes into commercial aviation — and most candidates don’t even know to look for it.
If you are between 17 and 34, hold a high school diploma, are fluent in English, and aspire to become an airline pilot, you could be eligible.
The next step isn’t just applying. It’s preparing properly👇

Thinking about becoming an airline pilot in the Middle East?
Two active pathways right now:
– flydubai Second Officer Program
– SalamAir Cadet Pilot Program
Both offer structured entry into commercial aviation — even without prior flight hours.
But meeting the requirements is only one part of the process.
What we consistently see candidates struggle with:
• Understanding what airlines actually assess
• Preparing for selection stages (not just applying)
• Positioning themselves competitively
This is where preparation makes the difference ⚡️
At Sharp Aviation Consultancy, we work with candidates to navigate the process properly — from choosing the right pathway to preparing for assessments and interviews.
If you’re planning to apply, take the time to approach it strategically.
