Sometimes in tuff times you don't get the recognition you deserve but we want to say THANK YOU for all you are doing! From our staff to yours!
WIDER BUSES: During the era of the electric trolleybus in North America, many jurisdictions classified the vehicles as electric railway carriages, exempting them from having to carry motor vehicle licence plates . . also exempting trolleybuses from the width and length restrictions imposed on motor buses. At a time when motor buses were restricted to 96-inches width by 35-feet length, it was not uncommon to find electric trolleybuses built to 37-feet length by up to 105-inches in width. In Salt Lake City, come 4-axle "articulated" trolleybuses built to 50-feet in length, had a transverse hinge . . . . and went around corners just like a 50-ft bus. An additional 3-inches in bus vehicle width could enhance passenger comfort about long-distance buses
President Trump seems to be very supportive of American businesses. Let is recall that some 14-years ago, the ABA supported by the Transportation Research Board (TRB) recommended to the US DOT to revise the length restrictions from 45-feet to 50-feet for motor coaches on the (federally funded) American Interstate Highway system. As the campaign for election for public office gets underway, teams for various teams will arrange for CAMPAIGN BUSES . . . . that is, the exact same kind of vehicles that the ABA and TRB had discussed with the US DOT. A few extra feet of length would provide additional room aboard the campaign buses for the comfort of the political candidates. As Mr. Trump has shown a willingness to on occasion, use executive order, the forthcoming campaign may provide scope for representatives of the intercity and long-distance bus industry to raise the issue of 50-feet length motor coaches with political candidates.

Hey! Bob Negrin here, but you can call me OG. With today's thirst for technology, we are finding a need to implement a WiFi Hotspot in our long range vehicles. It seems that most of the ones I have seen can only handle up to 20 connections at a time. What are you operators of larger vehicles using to supply all passengers? Are there devises that can handle more than 20 connections? Thank you in advance for your help.

The Coronavirus has taken our company and industry by storm. Reach out to your local senators and congress to help the motorcoach industry in this time!

Congress will be considering another economic relief plan, and it is imperative that they not forget the bus again! We are there during hurricanes to take people out of harm’s way. We connect rural towns to city centers. We help workers get to their job. We carry U.S. servicemen and women to and from deployments. We are there to take groups to events, rallies and concerts. We take kids to school and on field trips. We take families, friends and groups to see all of America’s amazing sites. Our industry literally moves America.

You are an essential part of the America’s transportation network. You are the connector in a multi-modal society. Our industry completes nearly 600 million passenger trips annually, nearly as many as the domestic airline trips. We bring $237 billion to the economy. America cannot bounce back from this pandemic without buses.

Help us educate Congress on what life would look like if our industry fails. We are TOO IMPORTANT to fail.

ABA, in partnership with The Bus Network, has launched a new website: to help you contact Congressional leaders and your legislators to tell them don’t miss our bus.

Please visit often and send an email to our Congressional leader of the day. We also have a template and contact information for your legislators for you to flood their in boxes as well.

Together we can make a difference.

Do Gooder Alert: The Thielen Coaches team from Redwood Falls, Minn., is using their school buses to deliver 800-900 meals per day to students in their district. Students get a bag with noon lunch and breakfast the next morning. The team sets up at 10 different locations in the city for students to come get their meals. They also have four small vehicles doing home delivery for those not able to get to the sites. They have been doing this now for 14 days now and will most likely continue to the end of the school year. According to Rick Thielen, their drivers have delivered more than 13,000 meals in the last two weeks and they can see the impact it has on those families. It gives a real warm feeling of accomplishment in their driver’s hearts. Great work Rick and team!
