Amtrak Careers

Choo! Choo! Concierge. What advice can anyone give on working remotely with Amtrak? Are there currently such positions? (Call Center or Dispatch). If so, what education/training is required? And I thank you! #allaboard #Amtrak #jobs #careers #remotework Travel and be informed.
How do I send a cover letter to the job site if I didn't attach it to my application?
I applied for locomotive engineer based out of Toledo. Took the assessments a couple weeks ago. Thanks for any info you can provide. Also applied for management trainee position.
How do I get in touch with the Amtrak Acquisition Team or Human Resources? There are no contact numbers anywhere!
@amtrakcareers I applied for a job and got a strength test scheduled. the doctors office who is responsible for the test canceled on me twice with no call for reschedule. And somehow I get disqualified for the job? Id like some answers please. the job is still up on the website and i am very much still interested.
I’m curious, I have applied for the Passenger Conductor Trainee, Jacksonville, Florida position twice. The first time I completely filled out the assessment test, and two months later was told the position was canceled. I just filled out another application and was sent an email to do the assessment test again. I would like to know if one was just completed in early August 2019, do I need to complete another one. If you could let me know as soon as you can, as my time limit for competition is tomorrow. Thank you very much! Steve Gerbert
I want a career
GM! My name is Kevin Schmitz. I am a US Army Infantry Veteran. I hold a CDL Class A. I live in the Los Angeles CA area & I am very interested in becoming an engineer trainee for Amtrak... I am also willing to relocate nationwide... I have experience operating large heavy vehicles etc... PLEASE W/B!
Your Personal career page for applying to jobs is horrible... If you want to attract good workers, make the personal profile builder more attractive and not so childish...
Hey, I had the privilege of spending a long layover with Regina over at the LA Metro Lounge, after a sleepless red eye flight from HNL. Regina is awesome - always friendly & courteous, efficient and constantly on the move keeping the lounge stocked & spotless. She’s a proud 37-year Amtrak employee & deserves this recognition. Well done, Regina. See you on my return trip. I’ll post the picture when I can. My Southwest Chief will board soon & I’ll get to feel the wheels again.
Sent in an application over three months ago. Was sent a rather innocuous "personality profile" exam which I felt I more than adequately responded to, and then nothing for over two months. It would be a shame to not even be offered an in person interview to assess my qualifications in person, and discuss my history, skills, and professionalism in person vis a vis a computerized assessment of my talent. I know I passed all the mathematical questions with the exception of one. I am a U.S. Navy Veteran, Honorable Discharge, that speaks three languages fluently; as well as professionally-groomed, presentable, warm, outgoing, thorough, respectful, team player, and I love train travel. Can't for the life of me understand why I never got the opportunity to meet with someone in HR and go to the next step. It is a real puzzle.
Good evening, I’m not sure if this is the appropriate page to post a question about employment process if not I apologize and please delete. I applied to Passenger Engineer Trainee, Philadelphia on 06/26/19. I logged in to check the status last week. Status states “process complete 08/28/2019”. Under the next step box it states “we welcome your application to other positions “. When I click on view application/status. It states under job offer confirmation section- “Congratulations on your offer with Amtrak! Pending successful completion of your pre employment requirements, we are excited to have you join our team. Please respond to your offer below. This will be retained and used to set-up your new hire record with us at Amtrak.” Under job offer response it states- “If accepting this offer, my electronic signature below indicates my acceptance of the terms of the offer letter I received. I consent to providing my electronic signature below, and I understand and agree that my electronic signature is legally binding, and has the same validity and meaning as my handwritten signature on a paper document.” (Which I acknowledged and accepted on 08/28) I’m just confused on the process complete and it saying we welcome your application to other positions. Any insight or help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! Joe

- Small children who are not able to maintain a facial covering are exempt from this requirement
- Customers must supply their own facial covering
- Service will be denied to customers not wearing facial coverings

Employee Spotlight: Chicago Union Station has seen significant changes over the past few years - from station restorations to a new Metropolitan Lounge, to a new western entrance and façade restoration currently under construction in preparation for a future food hall. Suzanne Mosher is a Senior Program Manager and part of Amtrak’s Major Stations Development group working to advance these projects in Chicago.

Suzanne's favorite part about working for Amtrak? "I enjoy the collaboration across the variety of departments that is required to advance each station project. Each stakeholder brings their own perspective that must be pieced together to make a project successful."

"Jadi Delgado Sr. was so helpful, kind, and hard-working (for everyone on board, not just me). When the train pulled into the station at Harpers Ferry on the return trip, he got off and called out my name. From that moment on I knew the trip back would be a smooth one and I didn't need to worry about my bike—or anything else! He even helped me on the way in, even though he was not assigned to our car." - Kim Horgan #AmtrakTakeMeThere Resident

Are you taking Amtrak home for the holidays? Charles Freericks sent in this photo of his mother arriving today at Van Nuys station for Thanksgiving "with the best station agent on all of Amtrak." This Thanksgiving, and every day, we are thankful for our wonderful #TeamAmtrak employees. Amtrak is a 24/7, 365 day a year operation and not all of our employees can be home for the holidays. Thank you to all Amtrak employees for everything that you do, especially the ones working this Thanksgiving.

What's going on at the future of New York's Penn Station? Amtrak's Senior Manager of Capital Construction Mike Zecca recently gave a tour of the new Moynihan Train Hall to some of our fall interns. Lots of work going on, and very exciting to see it come together!

Welcome aboard, Coca-Cola! Amtrak is now proudly serving ice cold Coca-Cola beverages, and also unveiled today a Coca-Cola wrapped ACS-64 locomotive! Executives from Amtrak and Coke met this morning at Union Station in Washington DC to show off the new locomotive, and many excited employees joined in, snapping selfies and getting their photos taken with the new train. Catch the new locomotive on the Northeast Corridor until January!

On Tuesday the PRRC was honored to receive a tour of Amtrak’s Beech Grove shops in Beech Grove, Indiana! We were able to tour Amtrak’s locomotive, sheet metal, and car shops and observe the process of how Amtrak overhauls and maintains its equipment. The PRRC wants to thank everyone at Amtrak for all their work to make this tour possible! A special thanks to the Mechanical Operations Manager for sharing his vast knowledge of Amtrak and the facilities at Beech Grove.

#AmtrakSustains "As a relatively young Conductor, I take Amtrak's long-term sustainability and responsibility to the environment very serious. Given the size and scope of our nation-wide operation, it is imperative that all employees play a role in advancing our goals by performing our duties safely, efficiently, and as eco-friendly as possible. Before boarding, during my initial walk through, I notate the location of our trash and recycling receptacles and announce them to the passengers soon after departure. Each train can accumulate several hundred pounds of trash on a single trip. By starting the journey this way, my passengers are aware right away that they can also participate in helping us recycle and run a cleaner operation. " - Noel Santiago
