Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is looking for a new Aide to Chambers. The Aide would have to be fully bilingual (able to write/speak in Spanish) and must be a US citizen. We’re working with chambers to get qualified candidates so I appreciate your help. Candidates would NOT be eligible if they have a graduate degree. The application closes on the 22nd. Most important is that the individual be fluent (writing/speaking in Spanish & English) and be able to represent and support a high/level principal. Interest in law is great but not necessary! Apply via the link below. https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/533022100 Marylin Pierre -- Marylin Pierre, Attorney at Law Pierre & Associates 932 Hungerford Drive, Suite 4B Rockville, MD 20850 E-Mail: [email protected] Facsimile: (301) 279-2010 Telephone: (301) 279-9020

The Stephen S. Weinstein Trial Advocacy Program is proud to announce that the Mock Trial Honor Society (“MTHS”) has, once again, been invited to compete in the TOP GUN NATIONAL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION (hosted by Baylor University School of Law (Waco, TX))! Top Gun is "an innovative, invitation-only mock trial tournament where the single best advocates from the sixteen top trial advocacy schools across the nation (based on results from the other major national competitions) go head-to-head for the honor of being designated as “Top Gun.”

Representing MTHS and AUWCL as the solo advocate is AUSTIN WALLICK (3L). Austin is, without a doubt, a mock trial star. In every competition he’s competed in, Austin has won either an individual or team award (Best Cross Examination Award at the 2018 Lone Star Classic; Finalist at the 2019 National Trial Competition - Region 4; Most Professional Team at the 2019 William Daniel National Mock Trial Competition; and Champion of the 2020 National Trial Competition - Region 3). Of the 4 competitions he’s competed in during his law school career, Austin has "flipped"/ advocated on both sides of the case in 3 competitions.

In addition to succeeding in mock trial competitions, Austin is a leader. He is the outgoing MTHS Executive Director of Recruitment, as well as a Trial Advocacy Research Fellow.

Assisting Austin with technology during Top Gun, is another MTHS star, Zhuo Zhao, (2L) (to be featured this Friday).

We are so proud to send these talented students to represent us! It is a huge honor for AUWCL and is a direct reflection of our students hard work! CONGRATULATIONS!

Today, we honor the late Professor Joseph V. Kaplan. Prof. Kaplan was a member of the Stephen S. Weinstein Trial Advocacy Program’s adjunct faculty since 2015.

Known for his enthusiasm for his Lawyer Bargaining course and his students, Prof. Kaplan was a great asset to the Program. In addition to teaching, he would often act a judge at hosted competitions. For his dedication, we recently featured Prof. Kaplan as the Adjunct of the Week on March 18th.

Our hearts are broken and this is a loss that has impacted the Program in a major way. We send our sincerest condolences to Prof. Kaplan’s wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He will forever be in our hearts and a constant in our memories.

Thank you, Joe.
