[08/31/17]   **Kindred Employee Assistance Line for Those Impacted by Hurricane Harvey**
Kindred continues to closely monitor the situation in Texas and the Gulf Coast region following the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. At this time, the safety of our employees is our primary concern.

Kindred has established a toll-free Employee Assistance Line at 1.866.KINDRED (1.866.546.3733) to assist employees who were impacted by Harvey. We encourage all Kindred employees who are dealing with challenges related to the storm and its aftermath to call the hotline so we can ensure you are safe, connect you with all available resources, and help you get the support you need during this difficult time. The line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

[08/28/17]   Kindred Hospital Tomball is committed to ensuring the safety of its patients and staff and is taking every precaution possible to weather Hurricane Harvey. Our patients are currently safe and doing well thanks to our dedicated caregivers. If events should warrant an update on our status, we will contact patients’ families and share relevant information here as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support.

How New Technology Helps You Stay Independent

www.kindredhealthcare.com

Advances in technology allow healthcare teams to help make decisions quickly and more accurately, which can prevent your symptoms from becoming a trip to the hospital.

One way they can do this is through telemonitoring, which is a service that tracks your vital signs or any changes in status electronically, either in a healthcare facility or in the comfort of home.

Success Spotlight: Santos was admitted to Kindred Hospital from a nearby medical center for treatment of sepsis. He was suffering from complications following extensive abdominal surgeries and came to Kindred for nutritional management, antibiotic therapy, wound care, and physical rehabilitation.

Santos was a willing participant in all of his therapies from day one and always gave his all to every therapy task with a smile on his face. When he first arrived at Kindred, Santos required total assistance for all activities of daily living and for mobility as he was unable to walk.

Santos’ motivation and positive attitude were large contributors to his success. He has since met all of his occupational therapy goals, and is able to complete activities of daily living with only minimal supervision. Santos is also able to walk over 400 feet with a cane and he is currently working on advanced community mobility tasks to regain as much of his independence before he is discharged from Kindred Hospital to return home with his family.

All of us at Kindred wish Santos all the best and are very happy that he will be going home to his family very soon.
