TOP OF THE PODIUM (TOP) is the premier wrestling facility in the region. Our mission is to grow and enhance amateur wrestling in our area by supporting local clubs and offering classes, camps, clinics, clubs and more. We also operate the area's only dedicated wrestling store. TOP members get substantial discounts on shoes, gear, and more.
Love what @novawrestlingclub is doing in Fairfax. Great supporter of TOP as well. Wonderful to have them in WWS and Dulles Duals #Wrestlingshirtadayinmay #usawrestling
We were hoping for help from the local government. Instead, we got this. Don’t be fooled by the misleading title—-this is a bill for 6 months only. They shut us down but still want their taxes. No discounts, no extensions. Nothing.
Day 7 of Wrestling Shirt Challenge. We thank @scanlanwrestling for making TOP its exclusive year-round training home #wrestlingshirtadayinmay #usawrestling
Wrestler ISO training partner. Willing to train at your house during the quarantine. Better than a teddy bear. If you take a chance on him, let us know how it goes!
spirithalloween.com 5 Ft Posable Dummy Prop - Add a hilarious or horrifying touch to your haunted house this year with this posable dummy! Whether you want to dress him as a terrifying clown or scarecrow, or put him in a funny or embarrassing outfit for laughs, this posable dummy has countless uses!
On Day 6 of the Wrestling shirt Challenge, I now switch to local teams. TOP wouldn’t have opened in 2014 without the support of Eastern Loudoun (previously called Sterling WC). Today, ELWC still rents space for practices and is a big supporter of TOP.
[05/06/20] Contrary to rumors, TOP has not established a date for reopening. We continue to monitor decisions made by Virginia and get input on how we can reopen safely at the right time. We are still planning to hold camps this summer (and will offer full refunds if we don't), but it's a fluid situation. We pray the State makes decisions based on data and science and not political ideology or ideas that aren't well thought out.
Today is GIVING TUESDAY. If you can help TOP, we greatly appreciate it. Or help another nonprofit or someone in need if you can. Thanks to all who have supported TOP in these challenging times! No reopen dates yet, but we're hoping for the best.

Day 5 of Shirt Challenge. Despite being a penn stater, had a great time at Ohio State’s father-son camp a while back. Also Logan Stieber came to TOP last summer and looking forward to Olympic and World Champion Kyle Snyder in August! #WrestlingShirtADayInMay
Nittany Lions who instructed at TOP in past 5 yrs (and number of NCAA titles): Kerry McCoy (2), Zain Retherford (3), Jason Nolf (3), Bo Nickal (3), Quentin Wright (2), Vincenzo Joseph (2), and Matt Brown (1). That's 16 NCAA titles, 21 finals appearances, and 4 Hodge trophies!
Day 4 of Challenge. Time to show some love to my ala mater @pennstatewrestling as well as my only collared shirt. This was a tough one to pick—I have 5 other PSU wrestling shirts, 3 sweatshirts, a jacket and wool cap! #wrestlingshirtadayinmay

Day 3 of Wrestling Shirt Challenge. UVA has been another big supporter of TOP since we opened. Coach Garland was one of our very first clinicians, and UVA wrestlers work at our camps every summer! #WrestlingShirtADayInMay
Day 1 and 2 of the Wrestling Shirt Challenge. I have nearly 60 wrestling shirts—this is tough is tough, which shirts won’t make it? #WrestlingShirtADayinMay
The "Virginia is for Champions" Camp in 2019 was a game changer. In the past, clinicians had to have a Virginia connection. But we decided to open it up while keeping the same overall theme. Our staff included Logan Stieber, Vincenzo Joseph, Nahshon Garrett, Ben Provisor, and David McFadden. Enrollment rose 60% and we had an incredible camp. This August, we welcome Kyle Snyder, Anthony Robles, Tim Flynn and one more clinician tbd!
[04/30/20] Some big-name summer camps are now announcing closures because they won't have access to facilities, travel/overnight lodging is involved, etc. Don't worry---our situation is much different and so we are continuing to finalize our extensive precautions to minimize exposure and maximize safety. Details coming soon!
Our theater wasn't operational yet, but the 4th annual PA inVA Camp was the first camp in the new building last June. We are still hoping to hold this camp in late June, although we will have to drastically reduce the number of campers this year :-(
The 2019 Ultimate Youth Camp sold out, so we added a smaller session in the Leidos Wrestling Room later in the summer. While there are exceptions, wrestling camp needs to be fun for most elementary-age kids. We want them to improve as wrestlers and have a blast. This camp is currently scheduled for July 20-23 this summer.
We were thrilled to debut the Comprehensive InTENsive Experience last summer. 5 challenging days of camp. Focused on 10 key elements for success in wrestling. A great staff and guest instructors. And it's gonna be even better this summer!
As construction wrapped up in June 2019, it was a race to get ready for our first camp---PA inVAsion with 100+ wrestlers. But we made it. Last summer, we also introduced an exciting new intensive camp and hosted sleepover camps for the first time, including hosting Wrestling Prep camps.

In 2018, the 3rd annual PA inVAsion sold out again. What a lineup of instructors we had!
Our 2nd "Virginia is for Champions" Camp in 2018 was another outstanding camp. In addition to tremendous clinicians, we had incredible counselors, including Jack Mueller of UVA. And then we had a pleasant surprise when Frank Molinaro asked if he could bring David McFadden and Mekhi Lewis along with him!
Since the 2017 camps went so well, we offered the exact same camps in 2018! It was the last year for camps in the old building.
[04/24/20] We continue to consult with various sources as we work on "Operation SafeCamp." As each day brings more good news and hope, we're confident our summer camps will take place as planned. But don't worry, we will go "over and above" to reduce risks and promote safety in obvious and creative ways (this includes limiting enrollment for our most popular camps), but, yes, we're increasingly optimistic! (remember, full refunds will be offered if we must cancel a camp, so there is no risk in securing your spots by registering now).
The 2017 PA inVAsion Camp sold out quickly with another incredible lineup of instructors. Bo Nickal, Wade Schalles, Steve Fittery, Rob Eiter, Canaan Bethea, Chris Marshall....it was a great week, especially cool when Wade (the greatest pinner of all-time) and Bo (the greatest pinner in the modern era) co-taught the campers together.
[04/23/20] Important Question: What is the first leg attack you think should be taught to brand new youth wrestlers? Double, single, snatch single, high c, etc?
We've always been grateful for the support from 3 great D1 wrestling programs in our state: Virginia Tech, UVA, and GMU. In 2017, we debuted the "Virginia is for Champions" Camp and these universities helped us out again. The first camp got rave reviews with top-notch clinicians like Jared Frayer, George DiCamillo, Sahid Kargbo, and more....
Although TOP ran successful camps during its first two summers, we learned the public wasn't interested in some of the offerings (e.g., Camp Rocky). It wasn't until 2017 that we discovered the right menu of offerings. We offered 6 camps for different age and experience levels---5 of the camps were new concepts. And 5 of them continue to this day, and the other was tweaked into something even better.
In 2016, we debuted what would become our most successful camp ever, selling out every single year. After designing an awesome logo, we put together an awesome staff of Mitchell Port, Matt Brown, Jason Nolf, Canaan Bethea, and Joe Kemmerer.
In 2016, we held a Faith & Fitness Camp. It wasn't a huge camp, but hopefully the kids enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. We studied the life of the apostle Paul through readings and music and got a lot of exercise----dodgeball, bike riding every day, kickball, hiking, wrestling, and more. We hope to do this camp again sometime!
pushpullwrestling.com Cael is quiet in the corner, shouldn't you be too?
Hawkeye fans wish we'd bring back this camp! Of course, Lee, DeSanto, Kemmerer, etc. can all come to our PA inVA Camp! We've also talked about a Jersey-themed camp 😏 Either way, this logo is still one of our favorites. Originally, it just said Iowa Style Camp. Well, kids who attended often seemed surprised at the Iowa intensity level. One day at TOP, tom houck ripped off a piece of athletic tape, found a sharpie, and wrote "INTENSE" on it. He then gave it to the graphic designer and asked "Can we add this to the logo somehow?" If you look closely, you can tell this was a real piece of trainer's tape!
In the summer of 2016, we introduced a bunch of new camps. PA inVAsion sold out immediately, some were reformatted in future years, and some never made it off the ground (Camp Rocky). lol
After opening, we hosted the Iowa Style Camp for two summers, featuring all-star Hawkeye wrestlers, including Matt McDonough (now coach at Wisconsin), Mike Evans (now coach at Navy), Montell Marion, and Nathan Burak
