I love to review the story of roses, rosewater, and rose oil produced each spring in the fragrant city of Taif, Saudi Arabia. The best part of the story is that the rose can help you every day. It is useful, practical and at the same time luxurious! A simple recipe for cleansing your face calls for mixing 1/8 cup finely ground rose petals with 1/8 cup finely ground lavender, 1 cup finely ground oats, 2 cups white clay, and 1/4 cup finely ground almonds. (Gladstar, The Science and Art of Herbology, Lesson 5). To use this soap replacement, combine 1-2 teaspoons of this mixture with water to form a paste and then gently massage your face. Although you grind ingredients finely, there is still a touch of grit in this recipe which helps to exfoliate your skin. Rinse off with warm water and experience how clean and soft your skin feels. Let me know if it feels amazing to you! Rosewater is a light and gentle astringent to apply to your face after cleansing. In fact, a natural remedy from Arabia is to "clean the skin and face with rose water or flower water." (Lebling and Pepperdine Evans, Natural Remedies of Arabia, p. 127). It is easy to apply a few drops of rosewater to a cotton pad and gently apply to your face. Rosewater can help to tone and close the pores while simultaneously offering its supportive, uplifting floral fragrance. The rose has been a traditional remedy for centuries. How will you use it today?
The healthful drink described sounds yummy! I'll highlight the recipe below but you'll find the entire article interesting... All you need is: Lemon Medium cucumber (half) Ginger root (a quarter) Mint leaves (half a cup) Preparation process: First you need to wash the ingredients and then cut them. The ginger needs to be peeled before that. Put them in a small jar of water and leave it for the night. In the morning, you should strain the drink and consume it before you eat and throughout the day you should take the rest of the treatment.
I saw some folks posting on natural ways to repel bugs so I thought I'd share this post...

Preparing spa bags to use with your bath can be very fun. Just put up to 1.5 cups of dried chamomile in a drawstring bag, add soap shavings if you have some, and let the bag get completely wet as you bathe. You can use it to wash your body and it will produce a delightful smell of chamomile. Kids really enjoy this! Have you ever made a spa bath bag before? Perhaps with lavender? More fun to come!
