[04/15/20] Accident at Magnolia and Blossom. Roadway is closed at the intersection.
I know it's cold and windy, but the quesadilla truck on Iron Horse smells so good. Come grab some, should be here until 7. - Judson
Food truck again this Friday!
Buena'Dillas - Featuring a variety of quesadillas
5-7 PM, April 10th, on Iron Horse
The parking lot next to the clubhouse has been opened up for residential parking, until further notice.
I guess we're having a food truck tomorrow?
Keep your eyes open for Lola.
Is this your car? Because it looks like your wheels got stolen...
To help reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 we're closing common areas throughout the community, including the tennis court and playgrounds. We simply don't have a way to sanitize them effectively. Signs will be posted and using them is at done at you own risk. You can find more info on our website, https://dshoa.com/common-area-closings-for-covid-19/
In the meantime, we're continuing with clubhouse renovations, and pool maintenance, in hope that both facilities will open later this spring.
Two kids/teens were seen today throwing rocks and stomping on the slide at the Baggett/Thompson playground. If you have any information about who did this please contact [email protected]
Clubhouse bathrooms getting a refresh, hope to have the space available for rentals soon... - Judson
Neighborhood Watch Update - One of our residents reached out about a woman allegedly trying doors over on Baggett. If you see anything like this please call 911. - Judson
This your car? The passenger's side window is open.
[12/17/19] For those wondering about the incident at Guilford Station and Magnolia this morning, per LCSO, a driver had a medical emergency but there are no serous injuries. Now we get the fun of dealing with insurance to get that brick pillar put back together. - Judson
Afternoon all! A couple of quick things to share...
- Clubhouse is still undergoing repair and renovation, but tomorrow's yearly meeting will still be taking place as scheduled
- Everyone should be getting board ballot info in the mail today. Not sure why it took so long to get out, especially with the vote tomorrow, but it's sort of moot. There are four positions open and only two folks are running.
Just a heads up for all the trick-or-treaters going out tonight who haven't been watching the weather, there's front coming through tonight that includes the possibility for severe weather. There's a tornado watch for this evening until midnight.
Stay safe out there!

Dodging rain and thunder, a great turn out at our annual dog swim yesterday. Thanks to Woofbowl for coming by, and the pool company for cleaning out those water filters.
With the forecast of potential thunderstorms this afternoon a couple quick notes about today's dog swim...
- Wolfbowl, the dog food truck, is keeping an eye on the weather and may not be out if things go south.
- Pool guards make the final decision regarding whether the event goes on. Hopefully we don't have a repeat of last year but it's no good putting our fury family members at risk.
Side note, guards won't allow people to swim with dogs, because there's various health code violations if they do.
Hope everyone has a great holiday. - Judson
This year's annual dog swim will feature a visit by Woofbowl, a food truck serving dog treats!
In other news the pool is temporarily closed due to a pump, and subsequent water quality, issue. I'm not sure if it's both pools right now, or just one. More details to follow when I get them.
Update - Pool will likely remain closed today but will reopen tomorrow. There was a pump/filter problem that led to some grossness in the main pool. As it's being treated the rest of the pools are closed (healthcode, due to the lack of physical separation between the chemically active area and the rest).
You may have noticed that trash pickup hasn't occurred. Well, another day, another day for American to drop the ball. Per them, trash will be picked up tomorrow.
I know it's annoying but if your trash is on the curb in a standard bag, please take it away or put it in a proper receptacle. Better that then having to clean up after an animal gets into it overnight.

A note on pool passes...
Following the submission of your information the approval process is a manual one. Craig (our communities Admin) at SFMC is going through each entry to make sure the resident is in good standing and the submission is appropriate.
Since this the first time going through this process we are working out the kinks.
Everyone should have their passes by the time the pool opens Saturday. If you haven’t had yours approved reach out to Craig @ [email protected].
Check out the new website!
I've been working on this for awhile now (definitely been longer than I would've liked, but that's another story). We're getting close to getting things wrapped up and I wanted to share it here. Please let me know if you have any feedback, positive or negative. Yes, some links don't work right now and, yes, content gaps from the existing site still remain.
[05/22/19] Guest pass access update - There will be no guest passes this season. Instead, everyone with a pool pass will be able to accompany one guest per scanned resident pass. I'll make sure to get this added to the website tomorrow. - Judson
After a flurry of activity today, we're ready for residents to start signing up for 2019 pool passes!
Please see our website for details... https://dshoa.com/news/2016/382-pool-passes-2019-season
Make sure to check your spam folder for messages after signing up.
If you have any questions or concerns you can ask here for call Craig at SFMC; (703) 392-6006 x215 or [email protected]
Do do I have your attention?
We're moving to a new pass system this year where residents and tenants will be able to sign up online and bring their phone or printed pass. This will make it easier for renters as well as anyone bringing guests. In addition it'll improve pool safety and make it easier to contact pool goers if any issues arrive.
The only catch is, we haven't sent out notifications yet. Mehdi/SFMC should have more info but I imagine they'll expect these letters to be in everyone's inbox by this weekend. Information will be posted here as well as the website (PS the new website is sooo close to being ready).
If you have any questions feel free to let us know!
Saw these posted over in the Golden Spike area. We have a bunch of roaming cats in the area, but I'm not sure I've ever seen an all white one. If you see anything please call!
News story on the gun fire (no new updates, but some of our residents getting some screen time)
nbcwashington.com A house was shot up overnight on a quiet street in Virginia.
There was an incident reported in part of the community last night. Going to share the post from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office...
"Deputies responded to the 45500 block of Grand Central Square around 1:50 a.m. on April 19, where several residents in the area reported hearing gunfire. A canvass of the scene recovered discharged casings and several rounds that struck and entered a townhome where three residents were inside. No one was injured during the incident.
Anyone with any information regarding either of these cases is asked to contact Detective C. Pickrell of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-1021. You may also submit a tip through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app. The Loudoun Sheriff app is available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play."
This photo of a lost dog was shared by a NoVA resident this morning. He was found on the W&OD near the parking lot off Pacific. Figured I'd share this here in case anyone is missing their pup or know where his home is. The dog was safely handed over to Loudoun County Animal Services.
This just in from American Disposal...
