South on Main Property Group

As a Realtor, I bring more than ten years of experience to the table, which means I have racked up ten years of wisdom and seen ten years of unbelievable goings-on around here. Yes, I know all the nooks and crannies of Prince William County, Fairfax County and Washington, DC, and I love to share my stories with my clients and my business associates. Social by nature, I am someone who gets along with everyone – well, just about everyone! I’m a casual sort of entrepreneur, wearing a blazer, t-shirt, and jeans most days. That is simply my style, and it has served me well so far. I like to keep things friendly while also communicating that I am there for you as your Realtor, ready and able to meet all your needs. Give me a cup of coffee and I can keep on running at full speed straight into the night and beyond. As a wife and a mother, I usually do too! I donate a portion of my commission directly to charity, doing my part to make the world a better place. Don’t forget to talk to me about credit repair if that is something you think you may need.

No such thing as "too young" or "too old" when it comes to buying the home of your dreams!

How will you celebrate when you finally pay off your mortgage?

Makes it lighter to carry and prevents everything from falling through the bottom.

Curb appeal is everything! During the summer months, make sure the plants around your home are thriving. Here are some great ways to use white vinegar around your garden:

1. Acidic loving plants thrive in acidic soil. Mix one gallon of water to one cup of white vinegar to help them grow.
2. Rabbits eating up your plants? White vinegar can keep them at bay!
3. White vinegar is great for getting rid of weeds. The weeds will die out, but the soil will stay healthy.
4. Ant problem? One part water and one part vinegar will solve that!
5. Great for cleaning rust and germs from your gardening tools.

One of the biggest instant turn-offs for buyers can be smells throughout a home that's up for sell. Most of us get used to the everyday pet and mess odors around our home, but make sure you put in the extra effort to get your home cleaned thoroughly and those pet areas tidied up. It can and will make a difference when it comes time to selling your home.

Still have some time left on your rental? While you're waiting to buy, focus on getting your credit score better! Even if you can qualify at its current score, the higher it is, the lower your interest rates will be. And that can mean big bucks in savings!

Kitchen style: bright and airy or dark and sleek?

Looking to buy a home and have kids? Some things you should research online to make sure your dream home is the "right" home:

1. Are there sex offenders nearby?
2. What are the school ratings?
3. Does the backyard have too much of a slope for playgrounds, trampolines, or pools?
4. Is there too much traffic nearby?
5. What are local crime statistics?

My clients are like family, make sure you look out for the things that will matter the most!

Hope you have a great Cinco de Mayo spent with friends and family!

Here are the top 10 things to think about when it comes time to buying your dream house:

1. Always get pre-approved before you start house hunting.
2. Shop mortgage lenders so you get the best interest rate.
3. Don't buy more house than you can afford.
4. Don't forget the additional fees that come with buying a home. Down-payments, closing costs, inspections, appraisals, etc.
5. Make sure you calculate regular expenses of home ownership when figuring out your budget. Both monthly and annual expenses.
6. No matter how much you love the house, or how new it is, always get it inspected to avoid future headaches.
7. Make sure you check the zoning laws. Find out what is and isn't permitted around your home/neighborhood preference so you aren't caught off guard by unattractive builds.
8. I'll help you with this part, but it's important to get everything in the transaction process/negotiations in writing. Never take anyone's word during the sale of a home, even if you're friends with the other party!
9. If you have too many contingencies as a buyer, you may lose out on your dream house. So make sure your finances are set and you're ready to move when you start your house hunt.
10. Having a great real estate agent by your side will help you make sure you don't overpay for a property. But keep in mind, if you submit offers that are too low, you may lose out in a hot market to a more interested buyer.

Would you expect 32 to be the average age of a first-time buyer? How old were you when you bought your first home?

Check out this sweet but healthy Strawberry Spinach Salad! On busy real estate days, it's a quick go-to meal!

Wishing you a day as bright as the flowers! Happy May Day!

Add some flare to your guest bathroom, it's the jewel box of decorating your home! Don't worry about trying to make it look bigger, focus on the final touches. Add some color, some flowers, and some artwork to bring it to life. During showings, make sure it's nice and tidy with the toilet seat down! Avoid any air fresheners that are too strong, quite a few buyers are sensitive to strong odors - even if they smell good.
