Modo Yoga Seattle

Modo Yoga is a green, clean, hot yoga series that stretches, strengthens and tones the muscles while detoxifying the body and calming the mind.

While all classes are rooted in the Moksha/Modo Yoga series, teachers are encouraged to bring their own unique knowledge and experience every time they enter the room to teach. Downward Dog
{Adho Mukha Svanasana}

The role of downward facing dog is vast. Done properly and consistently, the most noticeable benefits include:

-Stronger hands, wrists, low-back, hamstrings, calves and Achilles tendon
-Decrease in back pain by strengthening the entire back and shoulder girdle
-Decrease in tension and headaches by elongating the cervical spine and neck and relaxing the head
-Deepened respiration
-Increased full-body circulation

Modifications and Props

To get a feel for the work of the outer arms, loop and secure a strap around your arms just above your elbows. Imagine that the strap is tightening inward, pressing the outer arms in against the bones. Against this resistance, push the inner shoulder blades outward.

Deepen the Pose

To increase the stretch in the backs of your legs, lift slightly up onto the balls of your feet, pulling your heels a half-inch or so away from the floor. Then draw your inner groins deep into the pelvis, lifting actively from the inner heels. Finally, from the height of the groins, lengthen the heels back onto the floor.

Join Kendra for time well spent taking a deeper look into the postures practiced in the Modo Series. A series broken down into 3 workshops on the Foundational, Balancing, and Backbending postures.

Each session will be guided by intention, breath, and a keen sense of awareness into your own body and mind. Inspired by her first teacher training when she was told, "You don't know a pose until you've spent 5 minutes in it," this became a foundation in her own practice and now she is eager to share the experience with you.

We will warm the body with thoughtful salutations, calm and set the mind with breath...then get to work.
