We have been called to Mexico to share the love of Jesus Christ by building homes to provide shelter for His children.
In August, St. Paul’s of Shorewood Lutheran Church will be sending a team to Mexico to build houses. We will join with others to help end the devastating effects of homelessness in Mexico, as well as volunteer at a youth center that allows for impoverished kids a chance to learn martial arts, provide an after school program for tutoring and other activities geared to kids. The center has created a safe place for kids to belong. Fundraisers are being done all year long. By donating items for these events, you will be supporting our team who will be raising the needed funds to build houses that will help to make a difference in the lives of children and families in Mexico. Our church has been involved for over 20 years now working in Mexico on short term mission work, building houses for homeless families, teaching Vacation Bible school, Orphanage visits and sports camps have all been a big part of our work there. We are now in a position to make an even bigger impact with getting involved in and the supporting of this youth center as well as building houses… this is the first phase of a well thought out plan…including an all-girls foster home in the future.

Wow in just a few short days we will be in Mexico for our 20th year building houses...each year God continues to use us and each year we continue to follow his calling. Two passages come to my mine as I prepare the final preparations for this trip
John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. and
Isaiah 6: 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!
Nothing is more exciting than to follow God's calling to serve doing short term mission work each year...when we started going to a small little retreat center all those years ago I never had any idea what God would have instore for us...but through his callling on my life and the lives of so many others we went from not knowing anything about mission work to allowing God to work in us and through us and in the process we fell in love with our sister church in Tijuana and became a family...my brothers and sisters in Mexico have become not just a big part of my life as we watched our children grow up and now are watching our grandchildren grow up, but a part of many, many peoples lives that they touch each year...I can't wait to see what God will do in the coming years as we work side by side with our family in Mexico serving and loving God and those in need.
Please pray today and each day for direction safety and growth as we make our way on July 28th to Mexico and follow the calling God has placed on our hearts!!!
On July 23rd at St. Paul's 10 am service the team for 2017 will be commissioned...please join us as we celebrate and prepare ourselves spiritually for the trip ahead.
Good morning Diana. Look at the cute picture that Tracy sent to me this morning!!! Did you get a copy? I’d love to see pictures from the mission if you think of it. I know Tracy would too. So glad we could help you with fundraising and some supplies. Have a safe journey.
