A Seattle-based, competitive Irish Dance school with over 40 years of history in the Pacific Northwest. www.taraacademy.com
The Tara Academy of Irish Dance is the creation of the Raney family. Founded in 1994 by Julie and Sara Raney, family involvement in the Tara Academy has grown to include sisters Erin, Mary, Colleen, and Brigid, and parents Patrick and Barbara.
From their first steps with one of Seattle's original Irish dancing teachers, Jetta Commins, and on through their studies with Marie Gavaghan and Maureen Keane, ADCRG, the Raneys have always felt the highlight of Irish dancing to be family and community.
In 2003 Tara Academy together with the Baile Glas Irish Dancers cofounded the Emerald City Feis, held every year in April.
The teachers, dancers and families of the Tara Academy are pleased to be a part of the community of Irish dancing in the Pacific Northwest.
