Holly Park Community Church Outreach

Our church is a spiritual center for restoration, redirection, and renewal, as well as a "beacon of light'.

People must get involved, all members must be ministers and help to develop and implement ministries that will impact and influence our community. We must be more responsive to those who are afflicted and hurting, to the homeless nomads who live in our streets, and to the depressed and suicidal who have no reason to go on. We must take the initiative and responsibility to create a new atmosphere. We must show the world that if people choose to move according to God's plan and agenda, it will eliminate and prevent many of the ills that have made our society sick. We have the cure, who is the Balm of Gilead, our divine physician. We must re-educate our educators and intervene in our children's lives earlier.

[10/07/14]   Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
(NLT) -Psalm 119:105

When you find yourself in sticky situations, it's important to arm yourself with God's word. The way it translates into real life is through memorizing scripture. You will find that the word of God comes to mind when you need it most. Go ahead and prepare yourself by choosing a verse each week to tuck into your heart.

[07/11/14]   The Lord is my light and my savior. Who will I fear? - Psalm 27:1

[06/26/14]   But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (NLT) -1 John 1:9

When you are confronted with your poor behavior how do you respond? Do you come up with reasons to blame the other person? Or do you return criticism and pull up past judgments? Neither of these reactions are valued and do nothing to further a relationship. Next time examine your role in the situation and own up to your wrongs. You will find forgiveness from Christ and others.

The right starting point: you must

______________________________

Two options to discovering our life purpose:

• ____________________________

• ____________________________

With God it all starts:

“It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” Ephesians 1:11 (Msg).

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. How does the statement, "It's not about you, it all starts with God," strike you? What does it mean to you?

2. Rick says, "You may have felt in the dark about your purpose in life. Congratulations, you're about to walk into the light." What about that statement either excites you or makes you nervous?

3. What do you think Rick means when he says, "Being successful and fulfilling your life's purpose are not at all the same issue?"

*4. How does knowing God's purpose make a difference in your life?

WORSHIP You Were Planned for God's Pleasure .......................

*1. Worship begins with saying "Thank You" Share something for which you are thankful.

ANSWERS IT ALL STARTS WITH GOD

The wrong starting point: yourself

The right starting point: you must begin with God.

Speculation:
Function: noun
1 : thoughts or guesses about something
2 : the taking of a big risk in business in hopes of making a big profit

Revelation:
1 : an act of revealing or making known divine truth
2 a : an act of revealing to view b : something that is revealed; especially : a surprising or astonishing disclosure

You discover your identity and purpose through a
relationship with Jesus Christ.

God was thinking of you long before you ever
thought about Him.

The purpose of your life fits into a much larger,
cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity.

[05/21/14]   In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has. Proverbs 21:20

[05/12/14]   "Trust in Him at all times;
Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us."
Ps 62:8"

[04/28/14]   Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 6:11 NLT

Do you think God is proud, uplifted, and pleased with you or do you think He's ashamed, disappointed, and disheartened by you? The beauty of this verse is that He's taken away all of the negatives and can see you for who you are at your best. Since this is true, are you living in that freedom? Take some time and truly answer this question: what does God think about when He thinks about you?

[03/23/14]   True humility and fear of the LORD lead to riches, honor, and long life. (NLT)

Proverbs 22:4 NLT

God is a god of prosperity who does bring riches. However, believing in Him today will not bring $5000 tomorrow. Instead walking with Him and seeking His ways will change your attitude. You begin to see events that happen to you in a different light. Bad things can be seen as blessings and learning experiences. In effect, you become abundantly prosperous because what you previously saw as trivial, meaningless, or burdensome have now turned to rich experiences. How rich is your life? Has your view of events changed over time in your walk with the Lord?
