‘Outlier’: Seattle doctor wants STD drugs for partners of gay men

We’re in the Seattle Times.

King County Public Health denies Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT) for partners of Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), providing it only to heterosexuals. King County has refused this treatment tool to both our clinic’s requests for these state-provided medications and to our MSM patients who have requested EPT directly. Read the Seattle Times article about this refusal here: A Seattle doctor is protesting a King County policy that restricts gay men with STDs from getting free antibiotics to treat their partners, a practice that is routine for heterosexual couples. But local health officials say it’s more complicated than that.
