[03/19/17]   Hello Tara’s Tots Community!

I am looking for a part time nanny job, starting immediately!!
Because I am in school I am looking for a position that would be approximately 20 to 25 hours a week.
A little more about me, I am Phoebe, Teacher Tara’s daughter , and I have worked in childcare since I was fourteen, and am now 24. I currently work as a cook at the vegetarian restaurant Café Flora, but am looking for something different while I’m in school. I love working with kids, doing crafts with them and cooking! I am Waldorf inspired in my nanny philosophy, and try to be outside and active with kids as much as possible, even in the awful Seattle weather. I am CPR and first aid certified, and have a car, so I can pickups or drop offs. My rate is $20 an hour but I am open to nanny share with negotiable rates. I am available everyday except Fridays.

My phone number is (206) 697-4543
My email is phoebekatz17@gmail.com

Hope to hear from you soon!!

How Today's Preschools Are Actually Harming Your Kids

Do you ever wonder if you're doing the right thing by sending your child to a play based school – one where the children spend the vast majority of their morning outside? If so read on:

www.popsugar.com Parents have the best of intentions when they send their kids off to preschool. For the most part, they also have certain expectations — that their kids will learn the "important" skills necessary to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.

Why I Am Not Sending My 5-Year-Old to Kindergarten This Year: A Teacher's Perspective - Mothering

A good thing to contemplate:

www.mothering.com My youngest son could start kindergarten this school-year (he turned 5 in July), but based on his development — social, emotional, academic and physical — we made the decision to delay his entry into kindergarten until he’s 6. That means we’ll be paying weekly child-care expenses and tuition at a pa...

Our newest Outdoor School - ROCK! (Roots of Connection, Kids!) is hosting an open house on Wednesday, August 3rd from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
We will gather at Woodland Park in the meadow next to shelter #1.
This new outdoor school will be hosting both preschool children ages four and five, and homeschooling children ages six through 12 years.
Here is the schedule of the afternoon:

2:00 Arrival at Woodland Park. Our lead teacher, Brooke, will have a small game going that kids can easily join in and play. Tara, our Director, will welcome and greet parents at this time. Think of one thing you love about nature and feel free to share that with us.
2:20 Gather all parents and kids and have a brief welcoming/introduction circle.
2:30 Kids join Brooke for an adventure within view of the parents. Tara hosts a question and answer time for parents. Parents observe the kid's adventure.
4:00 Kids return from adventure and share stories of what they did, experienced, learned. This part includes parents as listeners of the kids stories.
4:15 The whole group walks back from Woodland Park to Linden. Brooke will model things like how we will cross the street together, etc. for parents to get a sense of how that transition will go.
4:30 Arrival back at Linden for a cool tour of the nature nook, and some light refreshments.
Raffle drawing.
Open house ends at 5:00PM.

Please help us to spread the word about this fabulous program.
Hope to see you soon.
Tara and Brooke.
