Thank you to Jake Uitti at Seattle Weekly for writing such a thorough story about the difficulties of putting on free music festivals in this city! Like it says in the article, Block Party at The Station is happening this year and it'll be bigger and better than ever but it's not clear we're going to be able to do it again in the future. Let's celebrate while we can! June 17 at The Station!
seattleweekly.com With mounting expenses, Folklife and Block Party at the Station wonder if they can go on.
As many of you already know, having a credit card machine costs small businesses a lot of money in fees, especially when many of the customers use their cards for small purchases. We are hoping that by having gift cards available, our loyal regulars can just buy a card for $20 or more once a week instead of using a credit card everyday. Please let us know if you are on board! Also they are great gifts for people that already Love The Station!
The line-up for this year's Block Party at The Station is 🔥🔥. Just look at all these beautiful people!
June 17th - Noon til 8pm - Beacon Hill
stationblockparty.com More than 30 performers on one stage for a full day of music, dance, and poetry. We outdid ourselves this year.
Well, after a beautiful super busy sunny day in Seattle now we have time to post this great article!!
theevergrey.com In honor of National Small Business Week, we visited local businesses with people who told us they love them. Priya Frank picked The Station on Beacon Hill because 'they're not afraid to challenge inequity.'
"Beacon Hill is Seattle’s best neighborhood. It’s changing, yes, but it remains what it has been for decades: an affordable place for Seattle’s diverse working-class, immigrant, and communities of color, complete with beautiful views, the fruit trees of orchards long past, and a “live and let live ethos” that encourages everyone to shine. Beacon Hill’s meeting place is the Station, a cafe where the baristas are artists, the artists are activists, the activists are customers, and the customers are neighbors and friends.... Unlike other so-called neighborhood block parties that bring in profits through corporate sponsorships and admission fees, this one’s supported by local businesses and is free. See you out there. "
Here we go again! We think we outdid ourselves this year. More than 30 performers on one stage, free and open to our entire community.
Beacon Hill, stand up.
Big announcements coming tomorrow morning!
