[02/01/13]   Happy Friday Everyone! Here's your guide to what's happening at the Husky Grind this week:

-If you guessed Tanzania and Honduras for last week's quiz answers, you're totally right. We'll roast these coffees again in a few weeks, but we did stash some of the Tanzania, cold-brewed it, and now we're serving as Toddy. The weather's warming up, so stop by and try a cup.

-We've got an Ethiopian Harrar Natural (!!!) & another Nicaraguan micro-lot from Finca Santa Teresa on rotation this week. These coffees are cupping really well and folks are raving. Look out for malted chocolate, blueberry, & lemon flavors in the Harrar. Check out the notes of raspberry, sugar cane, and wheat grass in the Sanata Teresa. I guarantee you won't find coffees of this quality, roasted this nicely, for these prices anywhere!

[01/18/13]   Friday Quiz #1

We’re introducing 2 NEW single-origin coffees! We’ll be selling whole beans later today & brewing in the café next week.
In the meantime, can you guess what countries these coffees are from???

Country #1:
-It’s said this country has the largest concentration of wild animals per square km
-Location of the largest mountain in Africa
-Bongo flava is the name for this country’s hip hop music

Country #2:
-The capital is actually 2 cities
-American writer O. Henry coined the term “Banana Republic” referring to his experiences in this country
-Día del Niño (Children’s Day) is celebrated on September 10

[01/17/13]   We’re brewing some new drip coffees this week!

Rwanda Abakundakawa Misozi Co-op
Nicaragua Finca Un Regalo de Dios

Rwanda Notes:
-Fair Trade Certified
-Co-op membership of over 2,000 small holder farmers & 40% are women
-Washed Bourbon
-Everything we love about African coffees in one cup. Deep notes of wild berries reminiscent of natural processed Ethiopian beans, finishing with the kind of dry wine-like acidity prized in Kenyan coffees. Buttery mouthfeel. Well-balanced flavors.

Nicaragua Notes:
-From Luis Alberto Balladarez “A Gift of God” Estate
-100% traceability; our importer works directly with Senor Balladarez, purchasing several coffees from various platinos (micro-lots) on the estate
-Washed Caturra & Red Catuai
-SHG grade (strictly high grown, above 4,000 ft)
-Acidy-forward coffee; sour cherries & sugar sweetness. Lime. Bottom-end notes of apricot. Moderate body.
