Welcome! SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE is at 9:00am and 10:30am
Rainier Avenue Church (RAC), located just south of Columbia City in the Rainier Valley, works to bring wholeness in Jesus Christ to people across racial, cultural, and socio-economic lines. RAC is an anchor church in the community through its collaborations with local organizations such as Urban Impact, Coalition for Community Development and Renewal (CCDR), and the Rainier Chamber of Commerce. RAC is a vital part of the Rainier Valley and the world because it serves as a gateway to link significant interaction among committed stewards who provide jobs, education and social services locally and abroad.
Dear RAC Family: many of you know Becca, a dear sister from ECBF who was recently diagnosed with cancer. We are heartbroken to announce that Becca's daughter took her own life this past week after a long and difficult battle with schizophrenia. Please, lift this family up in your prayers, and consider contributing to their fundraiser to help cover Christina's funeral costs.
And as an important note, if you or someone you know is considering suicide, it's okay to find help. Here are a few resources that you can connect with:
"God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18
gofundme.com It began with pain and resulted in a word that no one ever wants to hear: Cancer. Colon cancer that spread to the liver was the diagnosis that has changed my Aunt Becca's (and all of our) lives. This is the same disease that stole my grandmother, Becca's mother from us, but it will not be the o...
An update from the Seattle Police regarding the increase in shooting violence this May. It's good to know that they are actively addressing the situation, including putting more focus on preventative measures such as employment programs and recreational activities. Let's also be faithful to praying and asking God how we can be peacemakers here in the South End.
seattletimes.com Rather than traditional gang battles, police are dealing with retaliatory shootings set off by personal disputes. They plan to counteract the violence by increasing patrols and targeting the most dangerous offenders.

Because of this and the many alarming instances of violence in our community, we will be praying every Sunday during the summer for God to establish his peace in the South End. In addition to this, we will be collaborating with other ministries to address this problem as the Body of Christ.
Join us in these prayers, and pray that God would establish his peace and use us as peacemakers.

What a sweet time we had this past Sunday celebrating the generosity of Naomi Cotton, as well as the dedication of the Naomi B. Cotton Friendship House! Thanks to the hard work and generosity of so many, this fully renovated home is ready to house a refugee family from World Relief, who will be cared for by our own 10:19 Teams.
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for many have entertained angels without knowing it." - Hebrews 13:2
After months of fundraising, planning and renovations, we are finally ready to dedicate the Naomi Cotton Friendship House, which will be used to house refugees who come to this country through World Relief! Please join us this Sunday at 2 pm for this special service, where we will be recognizing the generosity of Naomi, as well as spending some time praying for the house and its future occupants.
1 Samuel 25:6 “And thus you shall greet him: ‘Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.”
Even as we all celebrated the return of warmer weather yesterday, another familiar but unwelcome phenomenon also made its return: gun violence. There were shootings all through Rainier Avenue yesterday, one of which took place by a park packed with children, and another which took the life of a young woman.
Church, let's pray for this young woman's family, that they would be comforted in their grief. But let's not stop there - let's act. Let's use both our prayers and our feet to declare what we are commanded to pray in the Lord's Prayer: your Kingdom come, your will be done, in the [South End] as it is in heaven. Because there is surely no gun violence in the coming Kingdom!
seattletimes.com Officers were investigating the incident at Rainier Avenue South and South College Street in the Mount Baker area. A second shooting was reported around the same time, but it’s unknown if the two are related.
