[05/13/17] Join us tomorrow for outreach to Capitol Hil!
Been so long since I put up a post. We've been going out every month. Second Saturday with a lot of great encounters. This month I ran into a couple in front of our church. I noticed that they were looking at the church building. So I asked them if they had any questions. They talked about noticing the church as they walk by eveey day. We got into a very deep discussion about faith. The man had a theological education but no faith. The woman had a great faith but very little understanding of the Bible. She was looking for someone to teach her more about the Bible. We talked about Paul, the trinity, why do bad things happen to good people, the original Jesus, the Old Testament and the New Testament. We even got into a discussion on Islam. At the end I prayed and the woman cried. She said this was something she had been hoping would happen for a long time.
The Holy Spirit is loose, at work in our neighborhoods. PTL.
Yesterday our friend David Maddox went home to be with the Lord. David profoundly impacted and blessed so many others who were touched by his ministry. He will be sorely missed. Our prayers go out to the Janet Maddox and their family. Thank you for sharing this man of God with all of us.
Three of us encountered this gentleman at a local P-Patch. It was raining, so he was sheltered by the porch on the garden shed. As we loved on him, listened to his story, prayed and and shared the gospel, he told us of two things he has asked God for that day. One was for a million dollars, the other was for three witnesses. Our Father in heaven always gives us what is best!
[10/07/16] Outreach tomorrow. Cap Hill Pres at noon.
[07/09/16] Come to Capitol Hill Pres at noon today and meet the neighbors. Love, listen, discern, respond.
Love. The more you give, the more you get. Two teams hit the streets last saturday. One met Donna (not her real name, the one on the left). She was lamenting the lost of her husband, murdered two years ago. She called herself a Buddhist, Hindu, Wiccan raised by Lutherans. We bought her lunch and shared the good news of Jesus. We prayed protection and for God to heal her heart and left her smiling.
Today, I felt prompted to go for a run and took a new route. As I ran through Seattle Center, who should I run into but Donna. She was sad. I talked with her and as I prayed with her, the clouds parted and her smile started beaming again. Love overflowed.
ReviveSEATTLE: Please join us in praying for my dear brother David Maddox (TTR Dicipleship Trainer) & his bride Janet. David has been battling cancer and was hospitalized yesterday with an infection. Here are the specifics from his post yesterday:
"ROUND TWO - AN UNEXPECTED INTERVENTION:
Anther unexpected need for God's intervention started Sunday as Janet Maddox and I were hoping as chemo ended to be able to go to church, but that did not happen. I woke up feeling terrible and as Sunday progressed it only got worse. Fears in my mind that the adventure last year of the infection - hospitalization - and weeks (ended up being two months to get back to chemo normal) rose.. Monday I played the denial game as it became clearer what I was feeling was more and more like last year.. Monday night neither one of us slept and we finally in the middle of the night addressed reality and headed to the ER early Tuesday morning. During the whole endeavor God was speaking that there was a purpose so trust Him. . .
At the ER the first of many miracles happened and continue to happen. The ER nurse took my temp and it was normal. She took one look at me said this isn't right. The only was to be sure is to take it rectally (yes the bottom). We did and it was 103. The important thing abut that is they would have sent me home with the normal temp and the infection would have just gotten worse, God moved and I started many tests - soon (relatively soon) got a hospital room and the antibiotics started flowing.. As I sit here at the end of day three they are still flowing and we have not yet got the fever under control (99.7) or identified the specific infection we are fighting. The battle continues and we are not discouraged. God has done many thing over these days I will write about as I can.
The second request for prayer is Janet. She had to leave me waiting for a hospital room for her own medical procedure that I had intended to take her to. Praise God for special friends who stepped up to help then and later as I simple was done until God
resolves this infection.
I will share more as I can but our specific prayer requests are for Janet's full recovery quickly - for wisdom and discernment regarding tests I have undergone to determine the source of the infection - that they get the fever under control.- and that we are enabled to Honor the Lord and witness to the people we come into contact with - and that we hear what He is sharing with us in these moments. Obviously I will have limited contacts with the outside world for a time yet. Please be patient. I don't know when I will get out of the hospital. Don't fear - we are not afraid - God will resolve this or we can talk about it when you get to heaven .
Love you all and thank you for sharing the journey. I miss not being able to post every day anything I feel led to post..."
Hit the streets today. Had lunch with Tim and Blake, new friends. Also met Kimberly, manager two doors down from chp. She's looking for a church and promised to visit.
[02/13/16] Jan and James went to Harvard Court--Seattle Housing--to prayer for a prayer appointment. on the way, we got tangled up with a little black rescue dog. Ended up praying for the dog and getting to know his owners--Anthony and Katie. Anthony is a former Cap Hill street kid.Gave them my card for Cap Hill Pres. Felt that was plenty so we moved on. Wished i had taken a pic. Had tea and prayer at Harvard Court with a woman recently saved, and 60 days sober. God is good.
