Thank you for 26 great years! We've loved sharing Salisbury House and Seattle with all our wonderful guests.
We are closed effective July 1st, 2011. Thank you to all our loyal guests. We recommend that you stay at the lovely 9 Cranes Inn on Phinney Ridge.
[07/01/11] Friday, July 1st, 2011. The last breakfast. Menu? Shirred eggs with fresh local asparagus, buttermilk oat scones with marionberry jam and fruit smoothies.
More from the Archives-Breakfast on the patio circa 1987. It seemed like a good idea but we realized we'd need waitstaff to manage cooking, serving, check-outs and phone calls all at the same time.
bit.ly Thank you to the members of the Seattle Bed & Breakfast Association for honoring us at the last meeting. We are looking forward to retirement but will miss working with the capable innkeepers of Seattle. Seattle is a terrific town for B&Bs, home to charming neighborhoods with distinctive local restaurants and shops. Downtown is fun [...]
More from the Archives-Innkeepers Mary and Cathy prepping in the Rose Room for Cathy's wedding-September 1986.
Salisbury Suite-Great for long term stays! Private Entrance, sitting room with fireplace and flat screen TV, fridge and coffeemaker. King bed with all cotton linens, large whirlpool tub and two person shower. Long terms rate this summer just $139 a night or mention if you are a returning guest, we have even lower rates for our regulars.
More from the archives. In 1998 we expanded the kitchen and added the luxurious Salisbury Suite. We demolished an ugly closed -in porch and added decks to the dining room and Blue Room. It took about 7 months and cost about $150,000 but it was worth it!
Another picture from the archives, we had (gasp!) shared baths until 1992. Here's one of them circa 1990. We converted this room from a small bedroom in 1985 and converted it back in 1992 to what is now the Garden Room. That fabulous six foot long tub is now in the Lavender Room.
bit.ly On the menu this week is our favorite Rhubarb Coffee Cake. Batter 1 C butter, room temp. 1 C granulated sugar 1 C brown sugar 2 eggs 1/2 C sour cream 1/2 C plain non-fat yogurt 1 tsp vanilla 2 C flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 C chopped fresh, or frozen [...]
Innkeeper Tip #2 Occasionally you need to take a critical look at your decor, just as you do to your wardrobe. This was the Lavender Room back in 1986, it looked fun and fresh then, really! Every winter we schedule in improvements and guest rooms get a whole makeover every 7 to 10 years.
From the Salisbury House archives, breakfast duty back in 1985. We put up with that old kitchen for 13 years!
