Join us for our Worship Service Sunday, May 21 at 9:30am. We’re using the Marty Haugan “Now The Feast And Celebration” liturgy, and Rev. Maynard Atik is preaching. Maynard, now retired and a member of ULC, is celebrating 50 years of ordination. We look forward to hearing his sermon, “No Orphan.” Plan to stay and celebrate with the Atik Family in the lounge following the service. All are welcome!
Our joyous worship service yesterday was the culmination of an incredible year-long 100th Anniversary celebration. Bishop Unti preached, we received three new members, and the children's message by John featured guest appearances by Pastor Tim and our church administrator Mari. Kudos to all the people who made this anniversary year so special! Special thanks to the anniversary co-chairs, Sue Tong and Yolanda Houze. On our way, rejoicing into our next 100 years!
Happy 100th anniversary ULC!
Come join us! A progressive, welcoming church in the U District.

ULC celebrated QUILT SUNDAY at our 9:30am service today! The quilts on the pews represent the 280 quilts sewn by our gifted quilters this past year. After being blessed by the congregation during the service, the quilts were boxed to be shipped to Lutheran World Relief (LWR). Over 100 quilts were already sent to LWR last October, with another 20 given to Compass Housing Alliance. Thirty of the quilts blessed today will be on display at our 100th Anniversary Banquet on May 6th, and will be available for purchase that night for $75. All money raised will go to pay for batting and shipping. Thank you to our wonderful quilters!
Here are pictures from the service!
50 or so University Lutheran Church members attended the combined worship with our U Temple friends today. Pastor Tim was the guest preacher, and the combined choirs sang a beautiful version of John Rutter’s “For The Beauty Of The Earth.” What a joy to witness as two of their younger members became confirmed as well! Thanks to Pastor Pat and the rest of the folks at U Temple for their hospitality.
Enjoy a screening and discussion of Martin Scorsese’s recent film Silence (2016) on Saturday, April 22,
at University Lutheran. The screening will begin at 6 p.m. and the Youth and Young Adult Committee will provide pizza. Feel free to bring beverages, desserts or other snacks to share. We are inviting our friends from University Temple Methodist to join us and please feel to bring other guests. Please sign up on the Worship Registration Form!
Silence tells the story of two 17th-century Portuguese missionaries, Father Sebastian Rodrigues (Andrew Garfield) and Father Francisco Garupe (Adam Driver), who embark on a perilous journey to Japan to find their missing mentor (Liam Neeson). While there, the two men minister to the Christian villagers who worship in secret. If caught by feudal lords or ruling samurai, they must renounce their faith or face a prolonged and agonizing death.
Feel free to contact Dustin J. Wunderlich or John Grebe with questions or for more information.
The members of University Lutheran are excited to be sharing a worship service once again with our University Temple United Methodist Church friends this coming Sunday, April 23rd. Remember to head to University Temple (1415 NE 43rd Street, Seattle, 98105) this Sunday - one hour later than usual! All are welcome.
