The Barrel Thief

The Barrel Thief is a wine & whiskey bar in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, with a focus on exploration & discovery.

Tonight, 6:00 to 8:00pm, $5.

I've been a big Obelisco Estate fan for many years, since I was intrigued by their original tasting room being built in Woodinville. Something just looked really different about it.

Once it opened, I was floored at their wines, since they were so restrained for the Red Mountain AVA from which they hail, while still maintaining the unique Red Mtn. character. The wines are almost European in style...powerful, but subtle.

We're pleased to welcome Ken Abbott from Obelisco, this evening, as he pours a selection of their wines. These are fancier wines than you'll typically find at our Wednesday tastings, with prices from $35 to $70 / bottle, but if you taste them, I hope you'll appreciate the elevated quality and character. This is a great opportunity to experience some unique and exceptional Washington wine!

And it should be a lovely evening out on our patio...I hope you can join us!

Come celebrate the first week of summer out on our patio with a glass of house-made sangria!

Made with red wine; white wine; pomegranate, cranberry & hibiscus juices; various liqueurs & amaros; apple brandy; and topped with fresh fruit & ginger beer.

Five bucks, today only! Come grab a glass, and it's happy hour all day, too. Viva la sunshine!

Veneto Wine Tasting!

Come try some great Northern Italian wines, this evening...a Prosecco, a Pinot Grigio, and a bunch of fabulous reds.

One really neat red, tonight, is a Corvina that's made like a Ripasso. Corvina is one of the grapes that usually goes into a Ripasso blend, and is rarely made into a 100% varietal wine, like this.

Ripasso is a neat wine technique where a red wine is made and then aged / re-fermented on the yeast and skins left over from making Amarone wine (which is made from partially dried grapes).'s all pretty crazy, but the result is a beautiful rich, dense & expressive wine. And the Ripasso-style Corvina is a steal at $15 / bottle...come check it out!

6:00 to 8:00pm tonight, $5 tasting fee. Details and a list of the wines we're tasting at:

The Heist starts this Sunday! Everything on our menu, 20% off, 6:00pm to close. Every Sunday, until we come to our senses. Which might be never.

Today looks like a good day to sit out on the patio and sip some pink wine! We have eight Rosés by the glass on our current menu (more coming!), including:

Les Lauribert (France, Rhône Blend...our happy hour Rosé)

Refuge & Prospect (Woodinville, Cabernet Franc)

Bartholomew (Seattle, Carménère)

Tranche (Walla Walla, Rhône-style Blend)

Cedergreen (Woodinville, Gamay Noir)

Red Car (Sonoma, Pinot Noir)

Pratsch (Austria, Zweigelt)

La Farra (Italy, Glera / Raboso...sparkling!)

This selection includes several varietal Rosés, in addition to the more common blends, and some really neat expressions from wineries close to home.

The patio doors are open, the afternoon is warming up, and now's a great time to come try a glass of something new and refreshing!

Today is going to be a great day. We have a killer Spanish wine tasting from 6:00 to 8:00pm, featuring a selection of wines from the Ribera del Duero and Castilla y León regions, including a visiting rep from Spain to pour and chat about the wines he brings in to this country, and it's also the FIRST DAY OF 2017 THAT WE'RE OPENING OUR PATIO DOORS!

It's been a long winter, but this afternoon is going to be *glorious*, so come early and get a great seat outdoors, and check out some of the fantastic new whites and rosés on our new wine menu, which is being released today. Just in time to site outside, relax, put your feet up, and watch the world go by...
