Vis Vires Fitness

Vis Vires Fitness

Vis Vires is the latin phrase representing Strength, Power and Influence. This simple expression epitomizes what I do. I'm an experienced Strength & Conditioning Coach/ Personal Trainer with a background in Molecular Biology and Biomechanics.

You'd be surprised what a properly periodized strength and conditioning program can do for you both physically and mentally. My goal is to teach you how to become the best version of yourself.

My favorite saying is "The only way to get stronger is to lift more weight". When looking at this phrase literally and applying it to strength training we know the best way to increase strength is to increase the efficiency of the muscle motor units to generate force, as well as build new ones. When looking deeper you can see how you may apply this phrase to life; We must continually challenge ourselves and reach outside of our comfort zones to grow.

Whether your goal is to prepare that beach body for a vacation, look great in that wedding dress or to run an Ultramarathon, you can be confident that my experience and background can help get you there.

A great post describing exactly the reason I train the way I do. Prioritizing strength and nutrition will be far more effective in getting the long term results you want than any amount of cardio training. So leave the treadmill behind and get under a barbell, you'll be happy with the results.

This kid is my hero...."Strength! Strength! No weakness!" Remember that "If you want to be muscle, you have to work out!"

In life the only way to get #stronger is to lift more weight. You've got to put yourself outside of your comfort zone to grow. Sometimes the mountains we have to climb are much higher than any other we've encountered, and when they are know that once you get to the top you'll be better for taking on the challenge. Keep Pushing! #fit #fitspo #fitness #strong #fitnessmotivation #quotestoliveby

How to Get Ripped - Putting it All Together - Bryan Krahn

Solid blog post on what it takes to get lean Information is cool. But execution is what matters. If losing fat were as simple as having access to information we’d all be ripped. Especially the dorks arguing on Facebook about when to start drinking their “peri-workout” drink. Instead, the average gym goer is, well, fat. Or skinny-fat. Or just…

Effect of range of motion on muscle strength and thickness.

For those who advocate partial range of motion for size & strength training, check this out:

To summarize: While partial range of motion may have a time and place in regards to sport performance, it is sub-optimal for improving strength and/or size. (at least for the elbow flexors (biceps) in novice lifters). The purpose of this investigation was to compare partial range-of-motion vs. full range-of-motion upper-body resistance training on strength and muscle thickness (MT) in young men. Volunteers were...

Lose Fat by Building Muscle - Bryan Krahn

So if Cardio doesn't work for fat loss, what does?

You've got to focus on full body workouts with sub-maximal loads and an emphasis on the big lifts. Basically just try to use as much muscle mass as possible each workout.

This blog post articulates it better than I can: There are many ways to exercise that will help you lose fat. And then there’s the best way.READ MORE
