Urban Vines Seattle

[12/22/12]   Urban Vines - Wines for the Holidays, a Tasting in South Lake Union
12/22 Saturday 12-5pm FREE!

For our last tasting of the year, we will have some bubbles and big reds open that are perfect matches for hearty holiday feasts. It's such a busy time of the year, but take a break between last minute shopping and visits to relatives and enjoy some wine! With much less overhead in our new "warehouse chic" space, prices are all 15% off.

Argyle Brut 09 - Toast the new year with the new vintage of Argyle Brut. The nose of lemon curd, raw honey and almond biscotti yields to flavors of Comice pear, custard and marzipan. The extra fine perlage carries everything through to a clean, minerally, citrus-toned finish. Life doesn't get much better than this. $19.55, reg $23
Adami Prosecco Bosco di Gica - Named after an ancient forest in Colbertaldo, which is now planted with vineyards, the Bosco di Gica has an almost mousse-like bead which releases aromas of yellow apple and peach, with notes of wisteria and acacia blossom. It deftly pulls off the balancing act of spice, savory, acidity and fruit to deliver the perfect start to any occasion. $15.30, reg $18.
Voirin-Jumel Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc NV - What's not to like about a grower Champagne that's also from Grand Cru vineyards? This 100% Chardonnay bottling starts off with aromas of wildflowers with a dash of lemon chiffon which follow with a creamy texture and fleeting notes of ripe apricot, and a long, fine, mineraled finish. A great price for such fine Champagne $33.15, reg $39
Liger-Belair Bourgogne Rouge Chaillots 2010 - From a 2 acre parcel planted just in front of "Les Saint George", this youthful Pinot Noir is jammy and juicy, yet still possesses the round and silky-textured fruit of its French heritage. Having delicate tannins, it finishes with sweet and racy acidity. $26.35, reg $31
Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds 2010 - One of Wine Spectator's "Top 100" wines of 2012, this bargain from a single vineyard planted to Syrah and Grenache is dense and layered, but very refined, with a violet note stitching the crushed black cherry, steeped blackberry and anise together, all rounded out with a firm finish. $17.00, reg $20
Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 09 - If you want steak on a hamburger budget, this bottling is for you! Affectionately known as Allegrini's "Baby Amarone", it's composed of 70% Valpolicella and 30% Amarone, and brims with notes of dark, dried cherries, blackberries and hints of dates and mocha. $17.00, reg $20

Sostenance, our exclusive bottling for Urban Vines, is available and will be open at the tasting. $20 reg. $25

Also on hand are a couple of my favorite weekday wines and we still have some wine from our previous tasting. The Ibericos Tempranillo was a favorite at our Thanksgiving tasting! 15% discount for six or more bottles mix-n-match on these:

Bieler Lou Ven Tou 2010 - $10.00
Torres Ibericos Tempranillo 2008 - $10.00 reg. $12
Charles & Charles Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah red blend - $10.00

Tamarack Cellars Cabernet Franc 2010 - $23.00

[08/11/12]   Sorry to be so out of touch. Just found out one of my favorite customers passed away earlier this week. So sad. RIP Kenichi. I know you are still smiling!

[06/18/12]   We finally received our temporary license, remodeling is well under way after several long nights and the wine label is close to completion. Progress! For those of you who Twitter, you can find us @UrbanVinesSLU. Miss you all!!!

[04/10/12]   Hi everyone! Sorry it has taken so long to give you an update. Admittedly, I have been taking a lot time off (first time since the shop opened) to take care of many things long forgotten. Unfortunately, it is taking much longer than expected to get our new location licensed and it sounds like we are still at least another month away from getting a temporary license in place. For those of you who purchased Sostenance, the labels will be done shortly and will let you all know when it is available. Thanks for your patience. On another note...have any of you seen the gigantic For Lease sign in the shop's window??!! Seriously??!! Anyway, we miss all of you and our furry friends very much and hope everyone is enjoying some sun! Cheers!

[02/27/12]   There is still a little bit of wine, beer and other stuff available. We will be open 4-7 today and tomorrow only. Everything is now 30% off. Don't be shocked when you come in...we moved nearly everything to our new location yesterday and it's looking pretty bare in here. Cheers!

[02/24/12]   All wine and beer is 20% off while supplies last!

[02/23/12]   Urban Vines - FINAL Tasting at our Mount Baker Location
02/23/2011 Thursday Night 5 - 8pm FREE!

Unfortunately, we are leaving our beloved Mount Baker location and heading a few exits to the north. We will certainly miss all of our wonderful customers and furry friends and hope that you will visit us when we are settled in our new digs. To show our appreciation for the many years of good will, good friends and good times we'd like to present one final delectable tasting as our parting gift to the neighborhood ...our own red wine and a few others we thought you would enjoy. Thank you all for seven amazing years!

In the fall of 2011 we created a special blend from select Red Mountain fruit. As many of you know, Red Mountain is one of the premier growing areas in the state, combining a unique geological soil profile with an ideally sloped aspect to the summer sun that results in perfect ripening conditions and notoriously bold and intense fruit. Known for producing some of the most powerful and expressive wines in the state we were truly lucky to get our hands on some of this juice. Bottled in 100% recycled glass, this Bordeaux style blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot is a densely packed wine brimming with dark fruit flavors, lifted aromas of black cherry, cassis and pan grille with red berries and fine grained tannins accenting the lengthy finish. Aged in 100% French barrique and bottled unfined and unfiltered it retains a pure expression of Red Mountain terroir. This is wine that typically sells for $45 a bottle and up but we were able to negotiate a tremendous savings that we want to pass on to you as a final farewell for 7 great years of bringing fine wine and good vibes to the neighborhood. We're confident you will agree that this is one of the best deals you will ever run across.
We're still waiting on the final label approval from the TTB but here's a preview. Bonus points if you can identify a few of our favorite wine producing regions...and you just might recognize the heart of Mount Baker in one of the panes. With a subtle nod to the 'hood, this would make a great house wine for visiting guests for years to come but we encourage you to pick up a few bottles for yourself, we think you're going to like it ;) Quantities are limited.

Cheers!
