Friends of the Seattle Mounted Patrol

The Mounted Patrol occupies a unique niche in the police force providing both good community policing and the relationships that go with it, and handling potentially hazardous situations like large or rowdy crowd control that can cause injury and damage.

Harvest's whole Police story and career will be on Evening Magazine on King 5 on June 29th at 7:30. Should have lots of coverage on his and my career together.

[06/15/17]   Hello All!

First off, thank you to everyone who has sent their well wishes to Harvest for his upcoming and well earned retirement. He, as well as all of us at the unit, appreciate it!

Harvest's last ride Downtown with Officer Wubbena and the rest of the unit will be tomorrow, June 15th. He will be on the street from about 12:30 to about 3:30 with several stops around town.

The schedule is: (All times approximmate)

1230: Leave Centurylink for downtown

1245: Stop at Diane's Kitchen for about 10-15 minutes

110: Stop at World Spice Markets for about 10-15 minutes

145: Stop at Serious Pie for about 10-15 minutes

210: Final stop at See's Candies for about 10-15 minutes

After the stop at See's Candies, Harvest and the rest of the Mounted Patrol Unit will be in Westlake Park for a meet and greet with all who want to come and say Hi!

Harvest and the rest of the unit will then move to Occidental Park for a second meet and greet for those who are in the southern part of downtown!

We hope as many of you as possible will take this opportunity to say Goodbye and Good Luck to Harvest!

We would also like to make a correction to an earlier post. Unfortunately, due to site logistics and security concerns, the event on the 16th will be limited to SPD personnel and dignitaries. We truly appreciate everyones interest in seeing Harvest off and hope that you understand.

Thanks again to everyone for your support of Harvest over the years as well as the entire Mounted Patrol Unit. We truly appreciate it!

[05/12/17]   JUNE 15th will be Police Horse Harvest's last street ride before he rides off into the sunset and greener pastures. Since I rode Harvest for 15 years I will be taking him on his last street ride. We will be visiting Harvest's old haunts, where he got treats while on patrol. We will be visiting See's Candy in Westlake Mall, Serious Pie on 4th Avenue, World Spice on Western Avenue, Diane's Kitchen shop and any other place Harvest will stick his head in to get a free snack. If I knew how to tweet I would let you know the times, but since I don't on the day of the event I will post approximate times of where we will be.

If you do not see us on the last street ride, we will be having a retirement party at the Mounted barn on JUNE 16th. So feel free to stop by the Police stables to say goodbye to one of SPD's longest tenured Police horses, Harvest.

Thanks to Ben Murphy Photography for the great picture of Chance and to Liz Murphy for sharing it with us!
