Giddens School offers Preschool through 5th Grade children a strong, academic foundation to prepare them for the 21st century world. Our staff and families nourish a wonderful sense of self and a genuine love of learning in our students. Children graduate from Giddens School with a strong academic foundation; they become curious, socially responsive, and creative young people who are well-prepared to affect change throughout their lives and are equipped with the skills and concepts necessary to communicate and learn effectively.

Some people believe that storms drain carry the waste to a sewage treatment for cleanup. Not true! Some drains go directly into the nearest stream or lake or Puget Sound, and so do the hazardous chemicals, pesticides, paints, antifreeze and used motor oil people pour down storm drains every year.

As part of their learning about Puget Sound, 4/5 students painted storm drains. Thanks to Seattle Public Utilities for the great stencil kit.

Our Parents Association sponsored Amy Lang from Birds+Bees+Kids to help take the sting out of talking to your kids about the birds and the bees. Thanks for joining us!

Thanks to our students and staff for participating in our Poetry Celebration this morning!

2/3 students visited 21 Acres and learned valuable skills about how food is grown, harvested, and used in the Puget Sound area. Thanks to Meg Jones for these photos!

Our Second and Third Grade Students visited Discovery Park ELC to learn more about tide pools. They saw so many things! Sea anemones, crabs, sea stars, chiton, limpets, whelks, sea cucumbers ... and more!

Giddens is proud and honored to support our partner and friend LWGMS: Lake Washington Girls Middle School at their gala #committedtoaccess

Our second and third grade students are at Camp Sealth on Vashon to enhance their study of tidepools. These overnight trips encourage team building and self confidence.

Our 2nd and 3rd-grade students regularly visit Kawabe Memorial House to learn from volunteers about the art of Japanese paper folding. In addition to creating intergenerational and cross-cultural friendships, origami helps students with developing eye-hand coordination, sequencing skills, attention skills, patience, temporal-spatial skills, and math reasoning.

After a super rainy March we celebrated a beautiful early spring day with bubbles, chalk, stickers, popsicles, and some extra playground time today. You can tell, it's not just our students who enjoyed this first annual celebration. Yippee for sunny days!!!
