Proposed Treasury Regulations Restricting Minority/Lack of Control and Lack of Marketability Discounts for Gift, Estate and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Purposes
If adopted, newly proposed Treasury regulations will greatly restrict or eliminate discounts for lack of control (minority interest) and lack of marketability where the interest being transferred during life or at death is an equity interest in a family controlled entity.

New Overtime Rule Will Go Into Effect December 1, 2016
The details have been released by the White House and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) for the new final rule governing overtime pay. The new rule goes into effect December 1, 2016. These changes will automatically extend overtime pay protections to over 4 million employees across the country.

Crowdfailure: Not a Single Company Has Been Able to Use Washington's 2-year-old Crowdfunding Law
Washington state lawmakers passed a law to legalize crowdfunding—a system similar to websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, but where companies sell equity instead of promising rewards in exchange for donations—more than two years ago. The goal was to help entrepreneurs get their small businesses off the ground. Since then, though, not a single company has been able to use the law to raise money. Meanwhile, 30 other states have similar—and, in many cases, more successful—crowdfunding mechanisms. Oregon, for example, has crowdfunded 17 companies in little more than a year since the state passed crowdfunding rules.
"It's a huge economic waste that we make it so hard on them," said Seattle startup attorney Joe Wallin, who was an early crowdfunding advocate and provided the first draft of Washington's law.
