Free Fridays at Teen Art Studios

This months workshop is "Monster Maker" with teaching artist Joseph Brooks

"Design and Develop your own character(s) using pencil, pen, and watercolor. Learn how paper and other mediums work together. We will also see how combining different mediums can enhance your illustrations."

"Ceramics + Musical Theater Dance Reimagined" Is one such program, great for kids who think spatially and love working with their hands.

in this program, kids will learn the basics of sculpting functional hand-built objects like cups and mugs to whistles and vessels. As well as take a famous piece of choreography from a show like “High School Musical” or “Glee” and revamp it to the best of their ability. Showing their skills at a final performance for viewing. All levels of skill welcome.

"Woodland Animals Painting & Drawing + Capieora" is a summer workshop here at Gage Academy of art

In this workshop, kids will Use a variety of traditional and unconventional methods of printmaking to make print original artwork, posters and more. And make their own rhythms and learn to play traditional and contemporary Brazilian grooves like Samba, Baiao and Samba- Reggae.

"Book Arts + Dance Drillz & Skillz"

Kids in this program will use papermaking, sewing, printing, felting, drawing and more to create special books for important words and pictures.

And compose highly rhythmic drill team style music/soundscape with your body. Learn basic dance technique and posture, and use improvisation exercises and games to come up with choreography

One more amazing option in our gamut of summer teen programs is "Nature Inspired Animation + Illustration"

Students in this program will be exploring a range of classical animation techniques including zoetropes, stop motion character animation, paper cut out, and hand drawn frame animation.

Also in this program is a look at contemporary and traditional natural science illustration using drawing and painting media. Students will study specimens from nature, and ecological issues to create artwork that reflects various interpretations of the natural world.

A great, engaging program for curious kids this summer is "Fantasy Illustration + Shadow Puppets"!

In this fantastic workshop kids will Create dreamscapes and fantasy scenes, learning techniques in drawing, painting and paper cutting in order to construct a visual story. tying each dreamscape and into a fantasy world map, creating a collaborative lost or undiscovered world to explore!

In puppetry they'll explore the magical world of puppets, through hand and shadow puppets. Through movement, theater games and creative exploration, students will create unique puppet performances.
