Sometimes, if we allow them to, our children can help us understand. One of our kids drew this in our Good Friday service tonight, and to me it says all that I need to hear about that event: the solemness of it; that Jesus didn't die alone on that hill, but that a soul was saved alongside him; that God's power was made evident in it; and most importantly, that it was for us--for those of us down the hill in our houses desperately needing this grace...this mercy...this invitation to life through death. There's room for us all in this picture.

Join us for our Holy Week Services: Good Friday and Easter Sunday. As we finish the season of Lent, may we not rush straight to Easter, but may we journey towards it mindful of our need for grace and salvation. All are welcome.

It was an honor to host a "Thank You" meal with the leadership teams of Emerald City Bible Fellowship and Seattle Presbytery, two partners that have rallied around us with gifts of time, finances, and prayer over the past few years. The Body of Christ is stronger when we go about ministry together. #seattlepresbytery #emeraldcitybiblefellowship

Tonight at Bible Study we walked through the passage where Jesus washed the disciples' feet. We talked about how Jesus was physically washing their dirty feet, but metaphorically addressing their inner-most broken and dirty area. He then told them to go and do likewise. So our challenge for Lent: how do we identify our brokenness, and how do we begin to trust God's redemptive power to turn those broken areas into areas of strength and the starting points for our ministry to the world? These strips of fabric represent our brokenness, our prayers, our yearning for God's redemptive power to bring about new life, and we bind them together because we know that that work comes to fulfillment in community. I'm grateful for a community willing to sit in those areas and with those questions.

Often the people that work the hardest get noticed the least. We're honored to get to "Appreciate" the teachers and staff of Evergreen a couple of times each year with a lunch. It's a simple way to say thanks, and we're blessed to be able to do so in this way.

Thankful for a community that is willing to sit with the tough questions and discuss how God enters our brokenness in order to do a restoring work.
