About the Author:⁠

Dena Igusti (she/they) is a queer Indonesian Muslim poet, playwright, and producer based in Queens, New York. She is the author of CUT WOMAN (Game Over Books 2020). She is the co-founder of Asian multi-disciplinary arts collective UNCOMMON; YOU and literary press Short Line Review. She is a 2018 NYC Youth Poet Laureate Ambassador and 2017 Urban Word Federal Hall Fellow. She is a 2019 Player’s Theatre Resident Playwright for her co-written Off-Broadway production SHARUM. She is a 2020 Ars Nova Emerging Leaders Fellow and part of Spotify Sound Up’s 2020 cohort. Her work has been featured in BOAAT Press, Peregrine Journal, and several other publications. She has performed at The Brooklyn Museum, The Apollo Theater, the 2018 Teen Vogue Summit, and several universities across the nation.⁠

About the Author:

Melanie Lamb Faithful has lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for many years, but her heritage is Appalachian. Her poetry has been published in many journals, periodicals, devotional guides, the “EPN“ Electronic Poetry Network and “Women’s Uncommon Prayers” by Morehouse Publishing. Ekphrastic poetry (poetic interpretation and exploration of the visual image) is her specialty and her poetry has been featured in multiple galleries and art venues. Melanie also taught a class for prose writers who wanted to cross the bridge into writing poetically. She, along with the photographer and artist Sally Nelson Kruse, created a full color book of art and poetry published by Western Edge Press/Mountain Press in 2019 entitled “Saints and Sinners, An Esoteric Collection of Poetry and Photographs from New Mexico”.

Melanie, her husband, and 3 of their 4 adult children and three cats live in Santa Fe. She spends all her time in the mountains, whether it is New Mexico or in the tiny town in southern Italy, where their second home was purchased for the price of a used Toyota. She graduated from a small Baptist college in Tennessee with a degree focused on religion, psychology and philosophy. She concluded her academic publishing career in 2019, most notably working for a British physics society where she managed all publishing operations for Latin America and the Caribbean for more than two decades.

If there is any overarching theme to her writing, it would be an affinity for feminist discovery with a sense of humor. Her two newest chapbooks released in 2020 are entitled “work of art, musings on aesthetics and the creative life” and “the spirit moves, musings on faith and the mythic life”. Sally Kruse:

My home town was Las Vegas, New Mexico. I graduated from New Mexico Highlands University where I studied oil painting with Elmer Schooley and Watercolor with Ray Drew. I have lived in Santa Fe for 45 years and spent my life in Northern New Mexico. I consider my lifetime in Northern New Mexico to be a most treasured gift.

After enjoying careers in both finance and later teaching on the Navajo Reservation, I retired and, once again, took up photography and watercolors. This journey stems from a lifelong love of our New Mexico History, it's landscapes, and the integrity and beauty of all of our humble villages and their churches.

About the author:⁠

Award-winning author and illustrator Marlaena Shannon was born in a small town near San Diego, California. Since then, she has lived in so many other places that California has mostly worn off. She dreamed of making New Mexico her home. She moved here, just in time for the pandemic. Yay! Mostly self-taught, Marlaena usually works in traditional media such as oil, watercolor, acrylic, or ink for illustration. Her first book was published in 2013. Now she is illustrating book number seven for another author. Creatures are abundant in her work, whether you see them in this world or another. Themes she often returns to are: the friendly monster, and the idea that love is where you find it. She is drawn to sweet, lovable, dark, and creepy all in one, as well as unexpected friendships. Marlena likes to speak at schools and participate in workshops for all ages because it’s important to her to help other creatives keep doing what they love.⁠
