We often find that the majority of people do not understand the requirements for an "informal marriage" (also known as common law marriage) in Texas. Did you know these requirements?
1. Parties agree to be married;
2. After the agreement they live together in Texas as husband and wife; and
3. They represent to others that they are married.
Informal marriages are just as enforceable as are formal marriages should the parties choose to get divorced.

What should you do if you are in an auto accident?
First, if you are hurting, it is important that you get immediate medical attention to assess your injuries and make sure you have no serious, life-threatening condition(s). Next, if you have health insurance and need further curative treatment, such as physical therapy, it is vital that you see your regular physician and obtain substantive physical therapy. If you have already started treatment with your physician or chiropractor, it is important that you continue with treatment until you have been released by your doctor.

WORDS OF WISDOM FOR THE DAY:
If you are divorced or in the middle of a divorce, you should NEVER:
1. Use your kids as messengers between parents (to send bills, notes, or anything else);
2. Press your kids for information about their visits with the other parent;
3. Disparage the other parent in front of your kids or others, despite his/her actions;
4. Tell your kids you are not receiving child support if you are supposed to be; or
5. Discuss any aspect of litigation, whether pre-divorce or post-divorce.
DO enjoy your kids when you are with them and let them be kids as much as you can!
