It is very important for you to keep your documents up to date!

OMG every parent of a college age kid needs to read this NOW.....

Are you sending your child off to college this year? Are they over 18? If so, did you know even if you are paying your child's expenses and they are on your health care, privacy laws prohibit medical and financial institutions from disclosing any information to you?
Maybe this isn't an issue with day to day living, but in case of an emergency you would not be able to find out about your child's condition if they were injured or ill. If they were incapacitated, you could not assist with their financial affairs or apartment lease without a court order.
If you are concerned about being able to step in when your child may need you, please be sure they execute two important documents before heading off to school:
A Statutory Durable Power of Attorney will authorize you to manage their financial affairs either immediately or in the future should they
become mentally or physically unable to do so. This would authorize you to handle tasks such as paying bills, dealing with a landlord
and closing accounts if necessary.
A Medical Power of Attorney allows you to make medical decisions if they are incapacitated and unable to do so. An agent acting under a Medical Power of Attorney is authorized to see the principal’s medical records to make informed medical decisions on their behalf.
If you would like to have these documents drawn up for you or if you have questions please give us a call so we can help.

We have the winners of our school supply baskets!!

1. Selena Hernandez
2. Rhonda Samuelson Stone

Please come by our office between 9am-4:30pm and pick up your basket! Congratulations!
