Tour with us as we travel across the beautiful countryside of Carver County, MN exploring the open-air art gallery of Barn Quilts!
Welcome to Barn Quilt Tours of Carver County, MN. The Barn Quilts of Carver County project was started in 2011. To date, 25 quilt blocks have been installed. Barn quilts are 2 pieces of 4'x8' plywood painted and framed. Patterns are chosen for their color and design, but most often reflect family heritage or a family heirloom quilt. Framed and ready to mount, each quilt block weighs approximately 250 pounds. As community service, Minnesota Valley Electric Co-op donated the man power and equipment. Tour with us as we explore the beautiful countryside of Carver County, MN. In the comfort of a coach bus, learn local history and vignettes about the farms, barn owners and their barn quilt patterns. My guided tours divide Carver County's quilt trail into three different adventures - including stops at local wineries, breweries, orchards and an organic farmer's market.
Banner Barn Quilt day! A tour and a speaking engagement in one day. Whew! Such wonderful guests!
A new favorite stop on one of my tour routes - is the Carlson Llama Farm in Waconia. This has now become one of my absolute favorites! Rick Carlson's work with the 4-Kids and llamas is incredible. Besides Ollie my dog - they are my new favorite animal!
[07/31/17] Barn Quilt Tours, LLC has their first official out of state client. (While we have many out of state visitors - this is my first out of state client for my tour business). Looking forward to a group from Wisconsin joining me this fall! Tour on!
[07/24/17] All because of a Barn Quilt - recently I met an elderly woman on one of my tours. After learning my maiden name (Willems), she thought we had a family tree connection. She shares the love of genealogy, as I do. I have been helping her find "the missing piece" in her puzzle. I talked to her again today. Loved her words, "And all of this because I took a Barn Quilt tour. I prayed I would find some answers and then I met you". The puzzle isn't solved quite yet, but we're working on it and I now have another amazing friend in my life. All because of a Barn Quilt....
