wow, union busters, huh?
Strathmore ... do better. As a member of both Strathmore Stars AND United Scenic Artists 829; I'm deeply disappointed. Yes, times are unbelievably hard in our industry. That's the time to step up and do BETTER for your people - not worse. Show some integrity!
See you tonight! Music is my healing place. Thanks for the good vibes.
Hear Strathmore's first ever commercial recording just released on Sharon Isbin's stunning new album AFFINITY! ..anyone interested in flat-picking? I’ll be giving a class June 29-July 3. It includes video lessons for 10 tunes(2 per day) and daily live discussions over Zoom. It’s $175 for the week which is a steal. Where else can you learn 10 tunes in one week along with getting technical advice and all the other perks that come with the online music camp? SIGN UP HERE: https://www.commongroundonthehill.org/traditions-weeks-home.html My name’s Danny Knicely. I’ve been flat-picking the guitar professionally for about 30 years. I grew up in a musical family from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. My grandfather was picking the guitar and playing the fiddle before either Old-time or Bluegrass got their names. I appear on hundreds of recordings and have performed with Vassar Clements, Mac Wiseman, Charlie Waller, Tim O’Brien, Tony Trischka, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Bruce Molsky, Chance McCoy, Alan Jabbour, Tatiana Hargreaves and many other notable artists in the genres of Bluegrass and Old-time music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=663UNG_cfO4&list=PLD-Xrj-Fcv8w5G8XBE754COkxFFfy0WXQs
Thank you so very much for arranging this live performance which gives people some happiness during these terrible times.
In search of a tree trimmer/ removal! Reasonable
Hello, We purchased 4 tickets for today's Wow in the World show. But I forgot the tickets at home (we're from Michigan). I could not find a lost ticket policy. I bought them direct from Stratmore...I have all the email receipts/confirmations. I can get my online bank statement to show it was paid. Can we still attend the show?
Strathmore: Pay my $18 Uber bill, please! Over a dozen people were stranded after the Jake Shimaburkuro concert last Thursday when Metro closed BEFORE 11:15 pm!! Why can't Strathmore pay to hold Metro open when it has a long concert?
I have to tickets to Chris Jacobs Band tonight, I will sell under face value. Please message me

They allow us to support each other with creativity and compassion. They offer us an outlet to express ourselves when words are not enough. When we are past this global crisis, the arts will help us heal and reconnect with each other.

As we boldly prepare for the new year ahead, we need your help. Plus, every dollar you donate through December 31 will be matched up to $5,000 thanks to a generous gift from Edward Grossman and Rochelle Stanfield.

[10/29/20]   Monuments ticketholders for tonight: it looks like we’re on for tonight despite the rainy start to the day! We can't believe it's already the last week of Monuments: Creative Forces... Seeing it come together was (and still is) amazing, especially since we had to figure out a lot of new things! Special thanks to our friends at REI's outdoor school (rei.com/events/p/us-dc-washington-dc) for lending us lanterns to help light the walkways.

Monuments is up through October 31: strathmore.org/monuments #StrathmoreMonuments

[10/25/20]   Those who hold tickets for tonight will have received this information via email:

We are excited to see you tonight at Monuments: Creative Forces! We are closely monitoring the weather. At this time, it appears a very small cluster of rain clouds will clear in time for the exhibition. In the chance that there is additional wet weather, we may need to pause the exhibition to protect technical equipment. In the event of a pause, we would ask visitors to wait to enter (please bring an umbrella, bundle up, and bring a flashlight) or return during a later time slot.

Again, right now the weather forecast looks positive, but if you hold tickets for tonight and would prefer to visit on another night, tickets can be reserved online. Free tickets are available Sunday–Thursday.

Monuments: Creative Forces - Extended!

Exciting news! We were able to add a few more days of Craig Walsh's Monuments: Creative Forces and it will now be up through Saturday, October 31. Timed-entry tickets are still pay-what-you-can, and any ticket payments help us offset the cost of presenting the installation. Free tickets are available Sunday-Thursday nights. We are expecting remaining slots to fill up fast, so reserve online at www.strathmore.org/monuments!

The trees have eyes in Strathmore’s mesmerizing art installation ‘Monuments’

"At tree-size, the faces simulate the kind of close-up interaction with a stranger that many of us probably haven’t experienced in months. You might find yourself absorbed in the subjects’ expressions or mesmerized by laugh lines and smiles, as if they were features of unfamiliar landscape seen out the window of a train." From the thoughtful review and writeup of Monuments: Creative Forces in the Washington Post! #StrathmoreMonuments

washingtonpost.com Outdoor video artwork by Craig Walsh features the faces of six local artists projected on trees.
