The Foley Group is closed today for Labor Day. Enjoy your day off.

The American worker deserves dignity, fairness and a safe job. Thank you to the Labor movement who fought for safer working conditions, reasonable hours, age restrictions, breaks, fair wages, access to fresh air and sanitary facilities for American workers in the late 1800s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution. It was the bloody Railroad Union workers strike that prompted President Grover Cleveland to initiate Labor Day— a working class holiday. Stana tupe benne. In Italian, it means: “from everything comes some good.” Consider buying from these companies for your Labor Day BBQs today.

Trump judge nominee, 36, who has never tried a case, wins approval of Senate panel

Experience matters. We just finished a 21 day trial. We can’t imagine trying a case in a courtroom where the judge had no experience doing the same. Not even 1 trial, not 1 deposition taken, nor 1 motion ever written or argued in court. Very bad for our justice system to prefer politics over practice. Remember, litigants are non partisan. They want experienced judges deciding matters impacting their lives. We hope this is not a trend. Brett Talley is a lawyer and partisan blogger who is slated to become a federal judge. At 36, he's never tried a case and was rated "unqualified" by the American Bar Assn. The Senate Judiciary Committee approved him on a party-line vote.

2 On Your Side: 6-Figure Phone Bill

This consumer was hit with a 6-figure phone bill from a hack into the provider’s network and the provider won’t waive all of the fees until he signs up for their monitoring program. Has this happened to you? What would you do if you got a phone bill for more than $135,000? Kristine Lazar reports.

The jury awarded $1.6 million. 🗽⚖️ Associate Sachiyo Yamada Miller, in her first trial, sat second chair to Ms. Foley & our team benefited from support from Orange County Trial Lawyers Association Attorney Jim Pantone who joined us to help with the experts in the trial. We look forward to future collaborations. #persistance #justice #promisesmatter #teamwork

As we read these stories it reminds of of so many women we consult with who chose not to pursue claims or who are too afraid to complain to their employers. Too afraid of the humiliation, damage to their careers, and hurt or disappointment to their families. As Ashley Judd says, “This is the moment.” Speak up. Object. Complain. Don’t let fear control. And if you are an employer or supervisor or co-worker— please say or do something. It’s your duty under the law in California.

The list includes aspiring actresses and Hollywood royalty.

Tune in tonight at 7pm to Angels Radio AM830 to discuss. Attorney KatrinaFoley will be co-hosting with Bruce Cook. Call in to discuss. We like it when businesses care about their employees and their profits. Here is a creative option for companies to consider.

This CEO did away with the 9-to-5 grind and gave his employees a 5-hour workday.

We are still at the office working on a motions deadline in a sexual harassment/retaliation case--missing the debate tonight. Thank goodness for late night CNN Politics & DVR.
