Mon Petit Déjeuner

Welcome to MPD—not just a district anymore but now an around-the-clock culinary and visual artistic experience opening its doors October 4th, 2010.

Here you will find everything you need to know about who we are (Dual Groupe, headed by the much-talked-about Koch twins), what to expect (an unforgettable evening) and how MPD Restaurant with its French-American cuisine, master chef, renowned mixologist and decadent décor plans to surpass even the finest tastemakers’ expectations, whether for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or late-night revelry.

Who We Are

No longer just shorthand for one of New York City’s most vibrant neighborhoods—the chic Meatpacking District—MPD is now also name and home to the transcendent space that epitomizes this fashion-forward quarter, which bristles Dual Groupe with exotic hipsters and tourists alike. Nestled at the base of one of America’s most glamorous corners, the foot of famous High Line Park, MPD Restaurant aims to be not just another restaurant in the area but the very essence of MPD’s soul. Regal and classic, MPD restaurant, which actaully stands for the French phrase mon petit déjeuner "my little breakfast," was birthed from the vision of artists who sought to recreate the decadence of Paris. MPD offers one breakfast inspired dish every night of the week such as Maine Lobster Omelette, Jumbo Lump Benedict or Quiche Du Perigord.

Our Space

Walk through the main corner entrance of floor-to-ceiling French glass doors, framed by the preserved meat-freezer gates and you’ll witness the poetry of placement, texture and color in balance. The white-washed brick walls; sheer, flowing drapes and ornate chandeliers lend a bright and airy feminine feel that contrasts boldly with the hard, raw masculine effects of the rustic mahogany floors, wood tables, cast-iron columns and exposed beams.

The 25-foot custom-designed Chesterfield banquet sofa in chocolate-brown suede begs to be brushed while equally plush, matching Nubuck-upholstered high-back chairs intermingle among orange-suede seats that spot the room with refreshing bursts of color encased largely by elegant neutrals. Along the waxed walls, laser-cut screens, Venetian plaster and chipped paint hang staggered antique mercury mirrors and high-fashion black-and-white photos by photographer Michael Tammaro, lending a whimsical air to the 2,000 square-foot space.

Outside, on our open-air sidewalk cafe, long red communal tables that seat up to 14 lend a cozy, casual vibe. Or reserve a ta¬ble indoors for the unforgettable nightly sunsets that glow through our west-facing French doors. You can also choose to dine at our café or slide up to the bar for exotic concoctions by renowned mixologist Jeremy Strawn, such as the Blackberry Press (a mix of our homemade belvedere lemoncello, crème de mure, fresh lemon and Moët Champagne, topped off with a sage leaf).

MPD straddles sophistication and casual formality, even after the metal shutters descend at midnight to block out the city’s prying eyes. That’s when the surround-sound speakers bring the room to life and our late-night menu kicks in with gourmet breakfast items such as tater tots drizzled in truffle oil.
