Comments

That church building was a treasure, bought at great price by your ancestors and offered to God. It was a treasure handed down for generations, entrusted to each one's care. You failed all of them. You squandered that treasure. With only comparatively minor fire damage (well below the insurance payout), rather than fix, expand, and improve that treasure, you DEMOLISHED it. You DESTROYED the heritage of your parish. Parish leadership showed no creativity, not willingness to work to address whatever issues there were with the existing structure while preserving it. The new building is not that bad, but it is soulless compared to the original. If, IF everyone agreed that a new church had to be built, the new design should have paid homage to the original, far more than it does - at least two bell towers of similar design, perhaps reusing the copulas. But no, a modern church with an entirely different look, and a wrecking ball for the offering that your ancestors sacrificed to give to God and to you. What gross ingratitude for your history! You never knew the true value of the inheritance of your parish - and so you squandered it on a modern building. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.
An arsonist tried to destroy the church building your ancestors built. The town rallied to save it - but now, you have finished the arsonist's work! Shame on you!
Can we be updated regarding the Christian Mother breakfast this weekend.
I was just looking for the bulletins on the oneinfaith website. I do not see a link to them anymore. Why were they removed?
As a former ST. Mary's Parishoner, and not living in Melrose now, would you please explain why the fence is needed at this time. Im seeing a lot of questions and no answers. Knowing the truth from you Im sure would be better than the rumors.
https://youtu.be/RFTf82PX3BU Wow! Anything is possible! Only 480 registered families in this small parish in Olivia, MN.
Hope you find a way to restore this beautiful church. My parent's church found a way to keep the history while modernizing. Check out their parish:
I really question the "One In Faith" that is listed for our parish. I'm loosing my faith . . . We've been lied to something I was taught was wrong. All along it was the intention to build a new church . . . And for what reason? So your name would be itched in stone to pass on to your children that you were a part of this process. It tears me apart everyday I go by and I'm not the only one! There are people from near and far if you want to believe it or not. When we die God is going to ask each and everyone of us . . . Did we bring people closer to God or push them further away? And what did YOU do for the good of others. It isn't how much money we made, fame or fortune. Isn't there enough problems in the world? Do we really have to bring them home, here in Melrose?
It seems the 'death knell' has been declared for our beautiful historic church. Why not arrange to have someone ring the bells at appointed times, so we can have some solace in hearing them in the final days before they will be taken down.
Having read the bulletin from our neighboring parishes from their pastor greeting the congregation on our Independence Day and expressing thanks and a thorough update on their recent project: the thought that has been on my mind and the minds of many parishions is the lack of communication from our pastor or any spiritual leaders. There has been no word during this past year + at any church Holy Day, Christmas, Easter, any day that a greeting would have lifted spirits and made difficult times seem more tolerable. They have reasons, no doubt. In a humble opinion. God guide us.

[07/09/20]   Announcement from our Audio Visual Acoustic (AVA) Committee.....

As we, the Parish of St Mary, anticipate worship in our new church, we are in need of volunteers to be trained in the operation of our new audio and visual equipment. Our current experience with Covid 19 has taught us the importance of technology and live streaming. We see this as a vital ministry for St Mary’s and an amazing opportunity for both our youth and “seasoned” members! Our audio/visual equipment provider is excited to provide training once we get into our new church. Please prayerfully consider this fun and important ministry for the benefit of our parish. We need you!!

CHURCH BUILDING TEAM UPDATE.

NOW IS THE TIME!

Now is the time AS we are building a CHURCH of God's people.

A Church is the people.

Our ChURch is US! (U(you) R(are) the center of the ChURch)

We are ALL the Church Building Team!

As we prepare for our new church building and worship space and gathering space, it is our time to be Church for each other.

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we have an important and wonderful opportunity and responsibility to rise up and support each other.

We all will get to, and will need to rise up and gather together to sing, to lector, to serve, to pray, to worship and to love each other in new and different ways.

Our Church will be more than a building we go to.

Our Church will be us, coming alive in God’s Love, for each other as we continue our journey together!

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22

A Great reason to Celebrate!
