Small Country provides a fun and relaxing family camping to all of our visitors-- from beginners trying out a new way to vacation to experienced campers who know that nothing beats a campground getaway!
Situated on a private 25-acre lake, our 150-acre park is tucked away in Central Virginia's beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We encourage our guests to camp how they love to camp-- whether that's participating in our weekend events and activities or starting a fire and taking a nap (or somewhere in between!).
The most fun campground in Central Virginia

There ain't no doubt our campers love this land! We had a long weekend full of happy campers celebrating Memorial Day with us! The Small Country family remembers and appreciates all those men and women who have sacrificed all so that we can have weekends like these. 🇺🇸

Hey Small Country Campers-- thanks for your patience! We have the definite Phase 1 guidelines from the Governor's office in our hands this morning!! Thank you for continuing to be patient with us, and we look forward to having you back very soon!
[05/04/20] Hi, Everyone! We were hoping for a more definitive message from the Governor today and are currently seeking clarification. Unfortunately, we will not have all of the answers we need today but will keep everyone posted on our page regarding reopening! Thanks, and stay safe!
We put fewer rules on our new mini golf sign because we figured y'all made your own rules anyways 💁♀️Tell us-- does your family have any weird mini golf rules? ⛳️

As of March 31, the VA Governor issued another Executive Order that mandates we can not take reservations for short-term stays under 14 days.
To comply with this Order, we will be calling all campers that had reservations (in the order that they are coming up-- that means we'll be calling April reservations first and June reservations last) to help process your cancellation. Everybody with a reservation that has to be cancelled WILL be getting a FULL refund. If you have any questions about your reservation, please call the office at 540-967-2431 or email us at [email protected].
We would like to thank everyone for their wonderful support and patience during this time. We are still so excited to get our first season started, even if it's later than we thought. Hopefully, good AND fun things come to those who wait 🤞
To our Small Country family-- please stay safe and healthy, wash your hands, and look out for one another!
Small Country Campground continues to monitor the changing situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As of today, we are remaining OPEN. While we still have campers staying at our Campground, all recreation, entertainment, and day use are eliminated. To be clear, for at least the next 30 days (until April 23), we will not open the store, the jumping pillow, the playground, or the mini-golf course. All groups that are over 10 people will be asked to break into smaller groups.
Everyone at the Campground must practice "social distancing," meaning no one should be less that 6 feet away from their friends or neighbors.
To expand on the store shutdown: we plan to man the phones during our operating hours. Reservations and site payments will be handled over the phone. Check-in will be streamlined to minimize time in the store. We will sell wood and ice, during operating hours, via a delivery system straight to your site. Everything we can possibly do to limit person-to-person contact at the campground.
Our Annual Spring Market will unfortunately be postponed until a later date. We will continue to update our customers about weekend events beyond April 23rd.
We implore all of our guests, ONLY COME IN GOOD HEALTH. We have a very small community here at Small Country which we hope to protect from the virus. Anyone with reservations for the next month can cancel and receive a full refund, no questions asked.
We're painting the store a new color BUT we can't decide which one! Let us know which one you like; ANGRY react to this post for ORANGE 🍊, WOW react for GREEN 🍀, LIKE for LIGHT BLUE 🐬, and LOVE for DARK BLUE 🌊
[03/18/20] Small Country Campground is taking the Coronavirus very seriously. While our Campground is remaining OPEN, we are eliminating all group activities for the next 30 days. Weekend events during that time including Hot Chocolate Weekend, Fishing Tournament, and Easter Weekend activities will all be suspended. We are also eliminating all Day Use in the park so there will only be Campers here for the next month. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and update our customers regularly. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding, and we are still looking forward to a great season!

Awoken by the crowd's chants of "Phil!" the groundhog was hoisted in the air for the assembly to hail before making his decision.

Burn ban has been lifted! The Department of Forestry is still advising special care with any fires, keep them contained and attended and have water or an extinguishing agent on hand.
After a good day of rain on Sunday, the Louisa County Department of Fire and Emergency Services said today they are ending the open air burn ban. The ban was put in place on Oct. 4. Residents are advised that fall wildfire season continues through Nov. 30.
Reminder to all guests - There is a county wide burn ban in effect due to low rain fall recently. This ban includes all wood fires including campfires (yes, even in a fire pit). We know, we are bummed about it too! But your safety and the safety of all guests is our top priority. There is a $500 fine for wood fires from the county. You will be warned once and repeat offenders will be asked to leave without a refund. Thanks for your understanding!
