Despite the wintry weather yesterday, we had several visitors to the Clerk's Office who were conducting business. One of our youngest visitors was the son of local attorney Kevin Daniel. Since Loudoun schools were closed, Kevin brought his young legal apprentice along with him to file some court papers in my office. I explained the oath of office for attorneys who practice law to Kevin's son during his visit.

Tax Planning in Divorce | YHB - CPAs & Consultants

Our Divorce & Family Law practice group often consults with financial professionals as we work towards crafting creative solutions for our clients. Leesburg CPA Brian Kling of Yount, Hyde & Barbour recently shared his thoughts on some important tax considerations for couples going through separation and divorce. Almost 50% of marriages end in divorce. It’s a sobering statistic that affects many families. It is important to understand these key considerations.

We are pleased to congratulate our colleague, Bill Atwill, as he concludes his six years on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board. In his final year he served as Chairman. The attorneys in our firm take seriously the privilege the Bar has been given to regulate its members in matters of ethical conduct. Bill has spent generally two full days a month preparing for, traveling to Richmond, and conducting Board hearings. We are pleased to have him back full time.

At the Awards Dinner Bill receives a placard on behalf of the Virginia State Bar, from John Keith, incoming Chairman of the Disciplinary Board.

At the Awards Dinner Bill pays tribute to Esther Jean Windmueller. Had she not passed away a few months ago after a several year struggle with ovarian cancer, Esther would have become Chair of the Disciplinary Board.
