Federal Reserve interest rate increases are starting to consistently roll in. Spurred by a healthy economy and increase in inflation, it’s possible that we could see as many as three more rate increases this year. How these rate hikes affect your bond portfolio will depend on the types of bonds and their maturities. Certainly ask questions now or, at least, at your annual financial planning review. After just two rate hikes in nearly a decade, the Fed raised rates again at the March meeting. Citing moderate growth in economic activity, solid job gains, and increased inflation, the Fed pushed its key borrowing rate up 25 basis points higher.
